I’m literally trying to get my hands above my head… Not even close. My swing goes from flat, to a little less flat, but not upright Also, I don’t put in enough reps to change it. My Biceps would have been twice as good if... I knew this earlier. A lot of us will do better with the Rope Hammer Curls because we don’t have good control with the dumbbells and we are letting it swing anyway. Rope Pulley is less stressful on the joints and makes the movement much more stable.show more

Why does every swing have to be Max Effort... today? The best MLB hitters I played with never seemed to over swing. On the rare occasion they did over swing they usually weren’t successful. But today because of Blast Motion & Rapsodo Baseball & HitTrax every kid is over swinging. These measuring devices might be fun to use but they aren’t helping you become better hitters. Ever notice when you over swing in golf you rarely hit a good shot? In golf the ball isn’t moving and it’s still difficult to hit it correctly when you over swing. In baseball the ball is moving and never in the same location so over swinging will lead to failure. Be Short and Quick to the ball and finish in a balanced position. It’s difficult to finish in a balanced position if you over swing. Baseball is not a video game! 100 degrees is not good golf weather but got... some work done yesterday. I’ve weakened my left hand grip significantly this year but had gone a little too far. I corrected that to square the face easier and continuing to get the right elbow deeper throughout the swing to build in leeway with my plane. Love this rope drill from Doug Spencer Ideally I’ll get closer to the rope and be able to move my low point further forward without hitting the rope. Left arm can release better too but swing is much more manageable now.show more

I want parents to really think about this. Imagine... paying good money for lessons because you care about your daughter’s long-term development… and the first thing you’re told is that “swinging down isn’t correct.” Instead it’s barrel depth, elite path, and swinging up because “that’s what the pros do.” That’s where development goes backwards. Most young athletes aren’t broken they’re underdeveloped in movement. They don’t understand shoulder angles, how to get on top of the ball, situational hitting, or how the body actually organizes a swing. That’s not their fault. That’s instruction skipping steps. In my cage, athletes do not swing up first. They have to earn the right to swing up by first owning the down. We stay at the top of the zone, learn how to find the down, and teach how the shoulders orient the swing. The up isn’t cued or forced it’s a byproduct of correct movement. What floors me is how often kids, especially in softball, are taught to swing up immediately. How do you start middle-down and swing up in a sport where the ball is traveling on an upward plane? It makes no sense. Baseball and softball mechanics are the same the body doesn’t change. But instruction must start differently because pitch plane is different. Baseball breaks down. Softball rise spins up. If a softball hitter can’t control the down out front, they’ll never handle elite rise. Once control is there, the femur turns down, the torso gets pulled up, and the natural up shows itself. No forcing. No manipulation. I can post videos like this all day. I’m not teaching a “style.” I’m teaching how the body is designed to move. I’m demanding because parents invest real time and money, and I won’t waste either. 🚨 THE BIGGEST LIE IN MODERN HITTING. We’ve become... a game of clones. Everyone wants the same launch angle, the same hand path, and the same “aesthetic” finish. But here is the reality: If you’re coaching every kid to move the same way, you aren’t coaching—you’re just copying and pasting. 🧩 Feel vs. Real The truth is found in who can decipher the feel vs. real for every individual player. • What a coach sees on camera (Real) is almost never what the athlete is experiencing (Feel). • If you tell a hitter to “get on plane” and they start dumping their barrels, your “correct” advice just broke their swing. 🧬 Different Bodies, Different Movements Everyone is built differently. One hitter has long levers and tight hips; another is short, explosive, and hyper-mobile. Everyone moves differently. So why on earth are we buying into ONE rigid swing philosophy? Unless that philosophy is the one that allows you to get the only intended result that matters: CONSISTENT BARRELS. 🎯 The Bottom Line Stop trying to win the “Best Looking Swing” award on Instagram. If your swing is “ugly” but you’re a barrel machine, you’re a better hitter than the kid with the “perfect” mechanics who can’t touch a high-spin heater. We need to stop chasing positions and start chasing intent. If the “feel” creates the “result,” keep it. Everything else is just noise. Stop cloning. Start competing.
