Accidentally ran an accuracy test on our MicroFactory robotic... arm. I had to disassemble the base for some improvements. To keep testing consistent for our already-trained models, I quickly built an improvised setup to recreate the previous calibration. After removing and reinstalling the motors, I was able to restore their position within 0.002°. Positioning repeatability was at least 0.01 mm at 300 mm reach. This isn’t a full accuracy test — a proper one would require more planes and indicators with resolution at least an order of magnitude better than the measured values. But anyway, this accuracy is sufficient for all of our assembly tasks.show more

My only other comment is that our failure to select our teams on merit came into sharp focus today. When our leading players fail the weakness of those not chosen on merit is revealed. This morning, I conducted an unannounced inspection at Queens... College, Yaba, Lagos, to assess its current infrastructure, leadership, and the welfare of the students. Upon my arrival at 7:45 AM, I was pleased to see the majority of students lining up for assembly, with both the academic and non-academic staff, including the principal, already present and ready to begin the school day. During my visit, I held separate discussions with students, teachers, and the principal to better understand their challenges and needs. It is clear that the school requires significant infrastructural improvements to adequately and safely accommodate its students and staff. Queens College, established almost 100 years ago, has long surpassed its original capacity. To ensure that our students benefit from an appropriate student-to-teacher ratio, sufficient resources, and adequate facilities for boarding and feeding, we must maintain a standard capacity across all Unity Schools and Federal Government Colleges. In line with our commitment to promoting quality assurance in education, the Federal Ministry of Education will collaborate with Principal Obabori and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) to redesign, refurbish, and build new facilities at Queens College, including a library, dining areas, hostels, and classrooms. Over the next several months, I will be conducting unannounced visits to other Unity Schools and Federal Colleges.
