At Frame, we frequently make use of a `useHoverIntent`... hook that fires a callback when it seems likely the user will click an element. This lets us preload, but less aggressively than on mouse-enter. This vid shows the time between intent being detected, and the click occurringshow more

This seems to be a problem with a decent... amount of the relatively new Barrett Mk22 military multi-cal sniper rifles. What's happening? *in most cases* the user pulls the trigger but doesn't get a bang. Instead, the rifles fire when the bolt is manipulated. It seems to be a different than the issue with Remington 700s that fire on their own but it also seems like a easier problem to fix but I suppose time will tell... #MK22 #fail #military #sniper #Barrettshow more

🚨🇷🇺🇺🇸 Russia and the US will sign an agreement... tomorrow on a tunnel across the Bering Strait, says Kirill Dmitriev. ▪️The countries will continue designing a tunnel between Russia and the US. ▪️"Tomorrow we are signing an agreement to continue designing the tunnel. The tunnel will be built. This will be one of the major infrastructure projects between our countries," said the head of the RDIF. ▪️Earlier, Dmitriev noted that a tunnel connecting Russia and Alaska across the Bering Strait could be built in less than eight years, and its cost would not exceed $8 billion.show more

This is a demonstration of use of a Glock... switch on a semi-automatic gun at Birmingham Police firing range. Notice the trigger is pulled once. 17 rounds shot in less than 3 secs. Now imagine an assault weapon with an extended clip with a conversion device on it. This is why we need stiffer penalties for the manufacturing, selling, possession, and use of conversions devices.show more

This simple trick will make your Livewire apps 10x... faster with zero JavaScript 🏎️💨 Whenever you have a selectable element, you might be tempted to write something like this in your classes: {{ $selected ? ‘bg-blue-500’ : ‘’ }} This is very slow, that class will only get added when the server responds. Instead, use an input element with wire:model on it, and add the following class to its parent: has-checked:bg-blue-500 Now the element reacts instantly and doesn’t wait for the server, unlike the first solution. This alone makes your app feel A LOT faster because it gives the user immediate feedback that something happened, even if the page updates 100ms later after the server responds. You can use this trick with various form elements, toggles, checkboxes, etc. Code below 👇show more

Is it better to crack an egg on a... flat surface or on the edge of something? Cracking an egg on a countertop or cutting board tends to make a cleaner fracture and pushes the shell inward less aggressively, so you’re less likely to get little shell fragments in the egg. Cracking it on the edge of a bowl or pan can drive shards inward and occasionally puncture the yolk. I'm a flat egg cracker.show more

An interesting issue with Robotaxi where it took us... to a Starbucks, but the Google data had the incorrect location. At drop off we were 0.2 miles from the Starbucks, so we had a short walk. Is there a way the Tesla AI team could add functionality in the app so riders can update map info to correct errors or inaccuracies on the underlying map data and then this propagates to the fleet? Being able to do this with a pin drop on the map instead of having to use an address might make this very easy and user friendly! Or, as a bigger ask, would it be possible for the car to be able to use visual images on its own to look for a Starbucks sign and on the fly, get us closer and update the map data on its own?show more

I've had a lot of comments about how my... games avoid loading screens when fast travelling, and the secret is... I just preload almost the entire game on the initial load lol. Even with that, it takes less than a gig of ram, a big benefit of having things be pretty compact!show more

i know we see this moment as caitlyn being... confident in the fact that she’s hot and knows it, but i also think there’s an element of her reacting to vi’s clear attraction to her and being ecstatic that vi finds her sexy because at the end of the day that’s what matters mostshow more

GPT Image 2 + Seedance 2.0 - Prompt Share... Created on @MartiniArt_ Created the character in Midjourney, then built the storyboard around that character. This time I used a more detailed video prompt, but I wasn't describing the sequence shot-by-shot. The storyboard acted more as a visual guide for the action flow, camera language and overall narrative than as a strict frame-by-frame blueprint. Looking at the result, the model seems to preserve the key beats, escalation and composition of the storyboard while freely interpreting the transitions between them.show more

Great shot of a resident male cougar (likely the... father of the kittens) at the end of July! We set this camera on a small wildlife trail along a beaver pond this spring, hoping to capture observations of cougars. And seems we picked the perfect spot. The male gives himself a quick scratch and then scent marks at the end of the video, a way to mark his territory. You can tell it is a male because it has a black spot of fur on its rear end (females don’t have that).show more

Overseas people may not be familiar with it, but... this is a mouse called "Trackball Mouse" that Japanese people love very much. Move the pointer by sliding your thumb without shaking your arm by a millimeter. The old generation of mice had a ball on the bottom, but I have the impression that it is a thumb version. The advantage is that it can reduce the burden on the wrist and save space. More than anything else, the smooth rotation of this ball is comfortable. If you have the opportunity, please give it a try. In addition, recently, even unknown devices beyond the scope of the mouse have appeared. "Nape Pro" You can place your favorite commands on all 6 keys, and you can also move the pointer. And it's super small. This may be an effective device for those who do not have a stereotype about the trackball mouse. Please be aware of it.show more
