hot take? #VCTAmericas 1) this is incredibly disrespectful to... the sport, to the viewers, to the opponents and to the tournament organisers and should not be allowed by RIOT in the first place to jump off like that to deny a round. Maybe it is actually not allowed and if thats the case, ENVY should be fined. But if this is actually allowed or wasnt predicted by RIOT in the first place, thats on RIOT. I spoke about this potential problem out loud on day 1 of Abyss release. 2) i understand that this negates C9 of getting 1000 creds and 5 orbs for killing the ENVY players BUT i think this is literally trolling/throwing a round by ENVY. In VALORANT every round is winnable, every round is doable and you just robbed your team off that chance. Not only that, LEV didnt have to use a single utility piece to win this round which saves shitton of cash, and didnt have to rebuy any shields. If you wanted to troll this round, ENVY, at least do it properly and jump off after your opponents planted, so you would waste more time and make them use utilshow more

A big shift in college basketball: STAY OUT OF... ROTATION AT ALL COSTS. Contested shooting % in the paint is a bigger advantage for the defense, than it is the offense when the alternative is a long closeout. In the event teams guard a ball screen with 3, instead of 2, the tag and rotation is short and extremely crisp in most cases. To counter this, offenses have gone into heavy 'EMPTY BELOW THE NAIL' looks to stretch the tag. UC Irvine uses a goalie in the key, 'whips' off ball screening actions and lock and trail all perimeter threats. They also stay home (packline gaps) beautifully on penetration. This allows them to rebound at a high level as well. 👇🏼show more

I just saw this clip for the first time... last night, because it’s from February 2020, and I was a Democrat then. I find this clip shocking. It is shocking that he went on to be in the White House for four years. The amount of “gaffes” he was making even before sitting in the White House would’ve ended any other politician’s career. Biden’s health decline goes back so much farther than most people think.show more

I just built my own wiki generator plugin for... my agents. My agents can now generate wikis for anything I ask. One of my favorite wikis is called PaperWiki. This is a great example of what Andrej Karpathy describes. It uses obsidian vaults to organize papers, retrieve LLM-generated summaries, diagrams, and other advanced views for paper exploration. When Obsidian UI is not enough, I use my own artifact generator inside my agent orchestrator (see clip for example). This allows my agents to build any kind of view or exploration feature that I need. The papers are all curated with automations and several rules/patterns I have manually built over the years. On the surface, this looks basic. But behind the scenes, there are advanced search capabilities, connections, metadata, derived data, and other interesting bits of information that are extremely useful for my research agents. This is mostly built for agents. The artifact preview is just a high-level way to validate and quickly assess the quality of the wiki, suggest improvements, and it's also great for research. I use tobi lutke's qmd for all search capabilities. Everything is markdown. The summaries and even the diagrams. The wiki updates on its own based on several automations I have optimized over the past couple of weeks. The wiki grows and self-improves based on several requirements important for my research use cases. This is as personalized as it gets. There is nothing like it out there. And I use my research expertise to continue improving it over time. This is a vanilla wiki. There are so many things I want to build on top of this. Different aggregations, views, artifacts, etc. All to help automate more of my research work and accelerate productivity. I think the biggest leverage here is how powerful this could be for discovery and experimentation. One of my goals is to use it to find deeper connections and insights that would otherwise elude the top human researchers and use those to generate interesting new hypotheses and research experiments. That way, my agents can use autoresearch to explore research ideas at the frontier. Stay tuned for more.show more

Lately 1- I’ve always had an affinity towards existentialist... authors and books. I recently re-read The Brothers Karamazov by Dostoevsky after several years and got reminded once again how rare it is for a novel to be intellectually demanding and emotionally transcendent- a testament to Dostoevsky’s incomparable grasp of the human soul, sigh ✨ 2- I love being captured through the female gaze(inserting the obvious fact here of how female photographers & cinematographers are far and few) and love this moody, lovely video @hiyadasari took of me in the van mid shoot one day not too long ago ✨show more

Do your nervous system a favor This looks ridiculous.... The science is solid. When you inflate your cheeks fully, you create increased pressure inside your oral cavity and nasopharynx. That pressure pushes gently against the tissues that sit right alongside the vagus nerve as it passes through your throat and behind your palate. It’s a mild version of the Valsalva maneuver — the same technique ER doctors use to slow dangerously fast heart rates. You’re creating internal pressure that directly stimulates your vagus nerve without any equipment, any training, or any special technique. The slow release through barely parted lips extends the stimulation. As the air seeps out gradually, it creates a prolonged, gentle exhale — which is the single most effective breathing pattern for activating your parasympathetic nervous system. A longer exhale tells your brainstem to slow everything down. And the physical act of puffing your cheeks stretches the buccinator muscles in your face, which are almost always tensed during stress. When they stretch and then release, facial tension drops — and your brain reads a relaxed face as evidence of safety. Three things in one silly move: vagal stimulation, extended exhale, and facial tension release. Puff up. Hold 3-5 seconds. Release as slowly as possible. Do it 3 times. Your heart rate will be noticeably slower by the third one. Nobody said nervous system regulation had to look dignified.show more

Most humanoid projects talk about real work. Very few... last an hour on a real line. This week I saw a case that matters for anyone building robots, perception, or physical AI. Kinisi deployed its first mobile manipulation system into a live recycling facility. Not a demo. Not a staged test. A real production line with real output pressure. Why this matters if you want robotics to deliver real value on your floor: • Handles mixed glass with random poses and no fixed fixtures. • Runs real grasp selection under noise, vibration and production variability. • Maintains throughput while avoiding breakage on a delicate material. • Shows mobile manipulation doing actual shift work instead of controlled lab runs. Kinisi published a video that shows what the robot sees and how sensor data turns into action. This is the part most teams struggle to explain to customers, so the educational angle is useful for anyone working on adoption. On top of this, the team signed a pilot with a global automotive manufacturer to explore humanoid use cases in production. The direction is clear. Wheeled mobility (not legs!) plus strong perception seems to be shaping a large part of industrial humanoids right now. I know Brennand from earlier conversations and from our podcast session, and I am always glad to see European teams push the category forward. Wishing the Kinisi team continued success. —- Weekly robotics and AI insights. Subscribe free:show more

What is the 4-step cricothyrotomy method? This method uses... 4 steps: Scalpel-finger-bougie-tube 1. Scalpel to the cricothyroid membrane 2. Finger insertion into the trachea with downward traction 3. Insertion of a bougie into the track with the finger it in feeling for the tracheal rings 4. Insertion of the tube over the bougie It is a simplified method for performing the procedure that eliminates steps such as the use of trach hook. While this procedure was popularized by the US military through the Tactical Combat Casualty Care guidelines, it has been described for many years before the recent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. There's obviously no RCT data on this method in humans, but cadaver, mannequin, and case series data demonstrate reliability and efficiency. Speaking of Dreams.. still kinda crazy to me how... perfect of a match a tool like that is for generative AI workflows. Intuitive game engine/creative sandbox that allows you to build almost anything, running underneath a Gen AI render. Sculpting, painting, interacting with your two hands in 3d space, here using two move controllers which by now is tech from 2010. I haven't seen ANY way to interact with 3d that allows for the same fast and intuitive sculpting without forcing you to wear a VR headset. I made this scene a few years ago in 2 and a half hour or so as part of a 1 scene pr. episode of The Last of Us, and ran it through a combo of Runway and Sora to get to this result.show more

GPT Image 2 + Seedance 2.0 Prompt Share Created... on mitte.ai I didn't use a character sheet for this generation. I directly used the character images I created in Midjourney. Since the visual style transfers into the video surprisingly well, it's actually a really effective for style transfer. This time I also added a bit more detail to the Seedance prompt itself. You can definitely achieve similar results without storyboards too, they're not mandatory but I think they're one of the best ways to previsualize scenes, pacing and even camera angles before generation. Also, this storyboard prompt is still a bit long. I'm currently experimenting with more compact version of it too. You can check the prompts below.show more

A lifelong learner and a student of many passions... yesterday I received my 2ND advanced degree - a Doctorate in Health Policy from George Washington University School of Nursing. I am grateful to Allahu SWA for the life opportunities I’ve enjoyed along with purposeful and needed challenges along the way. To many on this app, I am known for my no BS politics, and to my patients it’s Dr. ALI. My passion has been providing exceptional care for my patients and communities for nearly two decades. I came back to Somalia in 2016/17 to focus on primary healthcare BUT because the system doesn’t allow for expertise and progress, I opened my OWN practice in Mog and unfortunately for security challenges I had to close it. My journey continues both in and out of Somalia and Inshallah I will have the opportunity to use my training and expertise in primary care/health policy to improving health outcomes for my people. To my family and friends who have always kept me going - thank you for the love and support. To my political adversaries, caadi iska dhiga. We share a country - not lives. To the YOUNG people on this app - FOCUS on building a career you love and makes you $ without having to sell your soulzshow more
