After failing to catch the traditional media's attention with her wild and defamatory third party claims, Read and her inner circle tapped low level sensationalist blogger turned activist Aidan Kearney to spread her outlandish story. This addition allowed Read to further tap the Canton "rumor mill" and create a hysteria among followers where bigger and bigger rumors grew. One of those rumors came from local Ashley Bell. Bell claimed one of Brian Albert's brothers filled in his pool after disposing of the Albert's family dog in it. She also stated he had looked for Ring footage after his daughter's bike was stolen implying this was somehow nefarious. As ridiculous as this sounds, the rumor stuck and according to Read, these "locals" spreading wild rumors were speaking to her legal team, specifically David Yannetti. Kearney, for his role, wrote a highly inflammatory article on the pool, suggesting the whole cloth story was true. In reality, it was nothing more than rank speculation and supposition. The Read team used a smear campaign based on rumors to turn the community and social media against the witnesses and their families, destroying their lives. Vanity Fair reported that Karen Read got carpet from... inside 34 Fairview Road that she is paying to keep in a climate controlled storage room so that it can be tested for DNA. What wasn't reported was how she got this carpeting.
