Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left Right, B,... A…❤️ As a kid I called the Konami Code the “Contra Code.” I played with friends and instinctively recall “Select, Start” at the end, which gives 30 lives for 2 players. Yet “Select” scrolls to the 2 player option and “Start” is necessary to start the game. Thus, it’s technically not part of the code. Pressing only “Start” after goes to 1 player mode with 30 lives. Notably, the 1st Nintendo Power issue’s “Classified Information” section explicitly included “Start” when disclosing the sequence. The Konami Code was initially created by Kazuhisa Hashimoto while testing the arcade to console port of Gradius, which he found too difficult. (It also “includes” Start to start the game.) There, it gave access to all power ups ups. Why it stayed in Gradius is unclear, and it appears in future Konami games, most famously Contra. It confers 30 lives in Contra, Life Force, and others, and is sometimes called “the 30 Lives Code.” The effect can vary in different games. As kids, knowing the code was like magic. We imparted it to our friends like a fabled wisdom. Like riding a bike, I’ll never forget it, and I smile inputting it now just as much as I did as a child. No shame in it—Nintendo codes were and still are rad. Homages to the Konami Code outside of gaming are ubiquitous, including in Wreck it Ralph, unlocking Amazon’s “Super Alexa,” and even unlocking a chiptune version of the National Anthem on a Bank of Canada website! Also, Contra’s soundtrack is so good…I hope I’m not the only dork who takes a moment to jam out to it 🤭show more

People still don't understand how good Codex has become... 👀 I asked it to build this Starbucks website and within some 30 minutes it generated this without me touching a single line of code or spending time looking for assets either. Imagen generated every visual and GPT hooked everything into the codebase. After a couple of small tweaks it all just worked. It didn't even use half of my Codex session. It's super surprising to see quality of the assets. Was way better than I expected. That made me think about what AI is actually changing. Being a developer or a designer was never just about doing the work, writing code or designing it using some kind of tool. It was about knowing what to build in the first place. AI is getting incredibly good at the doing. The hard part is still having good ideas, making the right decisions, and knowing when something feels right. That is only getting more valuable. The people who win won't be the ones writing the most code. They'll be the ones with the best ideas who know how to turn them into reality with AI. Live: Code:show more

one of my favorite ways to use claude code... skills right now - combining remotion with claude-in-chrome for motion video creation. the workflow is addictive. the clip you see here was produced with minimal prompting effort let me know if you would like me to write a full break down of this process. you describe to claude code what you want, claude code writes the remotion components, opens the remotion studio (via browser) with claude-in-chrome, sees the actual rendered output, and iterates on it in real time. need the arrows pointing to the center of the bubbles instead of the edge? just say it. need the layout shifted to the center? say it. claude sees the preview, adjusts the code, re-renders. then when you're happy you tell claude code to render the final video. but skills are what make this possible. remotion knowledge + browser automation + the taste to iterate visually. no copy pasting screenshots back and forth. no "can you try moving it 10px to the right" over chat. it just looks and fixes. this is the kind of workflow that makes you realize how much further claude code can go beyond just writing code in a terminal. i didn't touch any code while working on the clip you see if you haven't tried combining skills together like this - start experimenting. the skills combos is where the magic is at.show more

Let’s be absolutely clear with the facts from today’s... “march against the far right” which I attended from the start. 🇬🇧🏴 1. These were left-wing organisations from all over the UK. Every union under the sun was in attendance. National Education Union are definitely indoctrinating children within the teacher and school environment, just look at their presence today. It is very concerning. Watch what they teach your kids. They, as an education union, along with Unite the union: join a union, were also fighting over who got to be at the front of the march today, thanks to two lesbian powerhouses not having it. Comedy gold 😂 2. The second video shows over 100 coaches being used to bus in all these so-called “concerned citizens” on organised transport. They are all part of a left-wing narrative which just doesn’t work anymore, we see exactly what they are doing. That was the entire left-wing loony left in attendance. That’s it. That’s them. This is a major point! We have millions who know what’s right, and the left wing in this country is about to get the shock of their lives in the next elections, swept off the map. That was a panic march. They know it’s coming! 3. There was no working class at this march! Fact! It was all middle and upper class people who attend the usual Palestine marches and Palestine Action events. They hate the Union Jack flag and they hate the working class. This was a stunt by the well-organised unions to pretend the country is behind them which it is not. And that was clear as day to witness today. Also a clear panic march. 4. We don’t have much to worry about. These people are not in the real world. They are privileged and wealthy. And as I said, that’s the crowd, that’s them. They are in total fantasy land, and it’s now time for the adults to get back in charge. 5. Long live England 🏴✝️🇬🇧show more

I built a full-stack Chat App to learn React... Deeper. When I started, I only know the basics in React. I was hesitant at first if I would be able to do it or not, but I started building it anyways. Through building it, I have learned: - Typescript - Tailwind - Redux - Firebase - File Structuring - Optimization - More hooks The list could go on... The point is you don't need to know it all to start building something. Fundamentals are enough, you can figure out and learn the others on the way. Here's the link of the app: Source code: I create visual web dev content and its all here:show more

The only negative I had is hopefully one which... is an easy fix but it is a huge bug bearer of mine and I have no idea why it’s so bad here in the uk. The lack of screens. I genuinely could not see a screen clearly and we were in the main grandstand. I had no idea how my horse had gone down to the start and we had to try and watch it on our phones. Only as the horses entered the final 2 furlongs could you try to see where they were. Completely takes away from the excitement and viewing. If you’re going to attend to watch the sport then you should be able to do so, the screens in the majority of racecourses are a huge issue and made to look silly by international meeting. Grok Build is seriously addictive. I can't put it... down. I had my 8-year-old nephew build a game with it, Starship Breakthrough. He sent all the prompts himself; I just gave a little guidance on the side. He knows zero code, and when he finished his first real game, he was over the moon. One tip: when you start a new project in Grok Build, don't have it execute right away. Say "I want to build a ___, design it first, then build it." Let it lay out a plan, you review it, then it executes — the results come out noticeably more solid. Everyone should give it a try.show more

Last night felt unreal. i don’t think it has... fully registered with me yet that we got hit by a tornado. firstly i’ll start out by saying troy, me, and the dogs are okay. thank you God. we stayed in the basement laying down under a mattress while we heard crashing and felt the house shaking. after the first wave, we rushed upstairs to my office to grab my streaming computer and put it somewhere safe. never in a million years did i think that in those short couple minutes i would have the weight of my entire ceiling crashing down on my head. it happened so fast and all i could hear was troy screaming my name. it was pitch black. he grabbed my arm and pulled me out of the debris as we ran back downstairs with the dogs. then the second wave came. we could hear more ceiling crashing down from upstairs and water was seeping onto us in the basement. we made the decision to completely evacuate the house and drive to my grandparents house, which was terrifying in its own right. power lines were knocked down in the road and we had no service. i think we’re both kind of in shock. we worked so hard on our home & were very proud of it, but at the end of the day, i’m just grateful to have made it out alive with only a welt on the back of my head. i hope everyone else is doing okayshow more

YOUTH ZONE Having coached youth for a while now,... playing Zone is the ultimate cheat code. Players can’t pass far enough or shoot from distance enough to effectively beat a zone. To me, it’s a waste of time playing against a zone in youth basketball. Although I do understand some coaches doing it bc it is easier to put in. I actually like pressing man to man for portions of the game bc it makes players develop how to handle the ball and pass against pressure, as well make faster decisionsshow more

Simplicity is at the heart of great software. This... is one of the reasons why Claude Code has been sticky for me. As a builder, I love planning and brainstorming, and this is now a key focus of Claude Code. I use Shift + Tab a lot to cycle between brainstorming, planning, and execution. This functionality provides the appropriate interface for me to either be very involved or less involved as I please. This works particularly well when building out new and complex features or entire new projects. This saves a huge amount of time. It allows me to tune Claude Code to execute and build more effectively. It also builds a loop of trust, and I often (surprisingly) find Claude Code asking for clarifications when it's confused. Coding agents don't normally do that. I have shared before on the power of brainstorming with AI for longer times. Try it and you will not be disappointed. Vibe coding is fun, but pair it with intentional development cycles, and you watch how far you can take a project with coding agents today.show more

✨ I revived my first AI startup from 6... years ago with Claude Code [ 💡 ] Back then it used GPT-3 (this was 2 years before ChatGPT existed!) to generate new startup ideas which then people can vote on And the best startup ideas rise to the top! Back then I made it because people complained they didn't have any ideas to build a startup This week I moved it to its own VPS and installed Claude Code and told it to fix everything, the DB had become big and there was stupid write operations on every page load that it made it very slow Claude Code is excellent at fixing all those small bugs from old projects and quickly fixing them As Garry Tan says "boil the oceans" as in before I'd not have the time to fix these kinds of projects, it wouldn't be worth it, I mean IdeasAI doesn't even make money, but now it takes me an hour to do this and it works again! I also upgraded GPT-3 to xAI's Grok 4.2 for new startup ideasshow more

🤩 I just learned a super cool trick! Do... you know how sometimes you want to record while you scroll on a website, like for a demo or something... But by using the mouse to scroll it turns out to be kinda janky and it doesn't look very good? No? Just me? 🤭 Well, I found out that if you paste this code in the console of your browser: ` setInterval(() => window.scrollBy(0, 4), 16); ` You can make the browser automatically scroll for you! And it looks super cool in the recording! 😎show more
