Since this morning’s reports of a raid of Kamal... Adwan Hospital in northern #Gaza, we have lost touch with the personnel there. This development is deeply disturbing given the number of patients being served and people sheltering there. Prior to this, World Health Organization (WHO) and partners managed to reach Kamal Adwan Hospital late last night, amid hostilities in the vicinity, and transferred 23 patients and 26 caregivers to Al-Shifa Hospital. The team also delivered 180 units of blood, trauma and surgical supplies and medicines for over 5000 patients. Kamal Adwan Hospital has been overflowing with close to 200 patients - a constant stream of horrific trauma cases. It is also full of hundreds of people seeking shelter. Accessing hospitals across #Gaza is getting unbelievably harder and exposes our staff to unnecessary danger. The mission returned at 3.30 am. We call for an immediate ceasefire; and protection of hospitals, patients, health professionals and humanitarians. Everyone in Gaza needs peace.show more

BOOM! Humanoid Robots Just Performed Surgery for the First... Time! REAL VIDEO! In a groundbreaking preclinical breakthrough, researchers at UC San Diego have achieved what many thought was years away: teleoperated humanoid robots successfully completing live surgeries. Published in Nature, the study marks the world’s first use of humanoid robots for in-vivo laparoscopic procedures on large animals (pigs). Two separate surgeries were completed: Key Details •. Procedure: Laparoscopic gallbladder removal (cholecystectomy) •. Team 1: Human surgeon + one humanoid robot (the robot performed core tasks while the human assisted) •. Team 2: Two humanoid robots working together with no human at the operating table •. Robots: Custom “Surgie” humanoids (~5 ft tall, ~60 lbs) using standard surgical tools •. Control: Fully teleoperated by surgeons (remote human control, not autonomous) •. Significance: First demonstration of humanoid robots handling real surgical workflows in a live setting, proving compatibility with existing OR tools and spaces This proof shows humanoid robots could one day help address surgeon shortages, enable remote procedures in rural areas, battlefields, or even space all at a fraction of the cost and space of traditional surgical robots like da Vinci. Read the full publication here: Project page with video: The future of surgery just got a whole lot more interesting. And medical cost for the first time in decades will be scheduled to go down, much further down.show more

IGG ORDERS ARREST OF NURSE IN KABALE OVER ALLEGED... NEGLECT OF PATIENT The Inspector General of Government (IGG), Lady Justice Naluzze Aisha Batala, has ordered the arrest of Mr. Tumuheki Nicholas, an enrolled nurse at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital, over alleged neglect of a patient in casualty. The directive was issued during a spot check at the hospital, conducted at the start of the IGG’s Regional Office tour, which commenced with the IGG Kabale Regional Office. Preliminary findings indicate that the suspect allegedly instructed the caregiver of a profusely bleeding patient, who had been referred from Kamwezi Health Centre IV, to lay the patient on the floor on grounds that the hospital had not been informed in advance to prepare a bed. Further allegations indicate that the caregiver was sent by the suspect to purchase medicine from a nearby pharmacy after being told that the hospital had no medicines. However, the caregiver reports that the medicines were never administered to the patient. Ministry of Health- Uganda Kakooza Savio Ntensibe #ExposeCorruptionshow more

🧵Another personal thread dedicated to an Israeli reservist who... served during the first months of the genocide. This time it's Ariel Mualem, a D9 operator who served in Gaza. In mid-December his unit raided Kamal Adwan hospital and abducted the hospital director, Ahmad Kahlout. Kahlout was then tortured by the Shin Bet and forced to give a "confession", on camera, for supposedly being a Hamas militant and for using the hospital as a "military base" of Hamas. Mualem shared a video of the forced confession on his Instagram story, and wrote: "Take a good luck at this d*ck". In the following story we can see the hospital director being abducted, while cuffed. Mualem captioned the video "Human garbage🤮" and "Here he is, not such a hero after we got to him" A year later, Ahmad Kahlout is still held captive in one of Israel's concentration camps. Kamal Adwan Hospital is still under constant attacks, in an area where Israel is currently implementing its "final solution", named The Generals' Plan.show more

At the age of thirteen, in the late 1940s,... Thomas Fogarty, newly bereft of his father, found himself employed at Cincinnati’s Good Samaritan Hospital, sorting supplies and learning the rhythms of the place from the ground up. With time and a certain doggedness, he moved from the stockroom to the operating room, working his way up to the role of scrub technician, where he stood at the surgeon’s elbow, handing over instruments. Back then, the approach to removing blood clots from an artery was crude and perilous. It was a bit like a ritual sacrifice—that involved slicing the artery wide open in a procedure that could easily stretch over nine hours and leave the patient with incisions from the abdomen down both legs. The outcome, more often than not, was dismal. Many didn’t survive, many others ended up with amputations. It was during those hours at the operating table, observing the struggle of clot removal, that Fogarty began to wonder if there might be a way to make the process a bit less medieval. He retreated to his garage with little more than a length of tubing, a surgical glove, and an idea. There, he crafted a tool so simple that it verged on the audacious. He started with a urethral catheter, flexible yet sturdy enough to navigate through a clot. To the end of the catheter, he attached a tiny balloon made from the finger of a latex glove. Once past the clot, the balloon could be inflated with saline from the other end of the tube, expanding it to the width of the artery and then pulled back—bringing the clot along with it. The device was so simple, so staggeringly clever, that when he demonstrated its use, the surgeons were equal parts gobsmacked and irritated. With it, clot removal (embolectomy) was no longer a barbaric ritual but a neat, almost gentlemanly procedure. Like removing a cork from a bottle. Thomas Fogarty went on to become a cardiovascular surgeon. That little embolectomy catheter he dreamt up became the very first minimally invasive surgical device. Here’s a video showing how it’s done: through a small incision in the groin, under local anesthesia.show more

During the Russian attack on Kyiv on July 10,... Ukrainian surgeon Borys Todurov and his team performed a child heart transplant. Doctors transported the donor organ for a child patient at the Heart Institute from Okhmatdyt Hospital during an air raid alert, missiles and drones attacking Kyiv as explosions sounded in the city. On their way, the doctors recorded a video of burning buildings not far from the clinic. Despite the threat, the heart was delivered, and the transplant was performed. The patient, a child, has been living with a heart disease for several years, but her condition deteriorated, and a new heart was her only chance. Thankfully, the operation was successful, Dr. Todurov said. "The heart is working, and the pressure is stable. We hope that the patient will recover and live a long and full life," he said. Ukrainians are incredible. To perform such complex operations under explosions is just something out of this world. 📹 & 📷: Violetta Kirtoka/Facebookshow more

I cannot stay silent any longer. What is happening... at Kenyatta National Hospital is not just mismanagement it is deliberate cruelty. While billions are spent on endless building projects, our children lie in wards with no medicine, no hope. Parents are forced to pay cash for even basic blood tests. SHA will cover one radiotherapy session for an inpatient, yet can cover over 30 sessions for outpatients. This is not oversight it is a calculated injustice. The radiotherapy machine keeps breaking down. And when it does, children are sent to Texas, a facility owned by the very doctor who runs KNH’s radiotherapy department. Ask yourself: is the machine failing by accident, or is it being sabotaged so profit can be made off the suffering of children? At Texas, consultation alone costs 4,000 shillings, and every test is another charge. KNH continues to increase consultation fees while families cannot even afford 1,550 shillings. SHA limits admissions to 40 children, sending the rest home to return the next Monday. Meanwhile, cancer does not wait. Cancer does not negotiate. Every delayed referral, every broken machine, every denied admission is a death sentence. We are losing over ten children every week in oncology wards. Ten innocent lives wasted. Ten families shattered. Ten futures stolen. A child needing 20 radiotherapy sessions receives 2, then the machine breaks down. Weeks pass. No referral. No treatment. And SHA claims it is “doing its best.” No it is failing. Willfully. This is not misfortune. This is negligence dressed up as bureaucracy. This is the deliberate destruction of lives. And we will not stand by while our children are sacrificed on the altar of profit and incompetence. SHA has failed. Kenyatta National Hospital has failed. Our government has failed. And history will remember who allowed our children to die while pretending to care.show more

🏥 NEW: Israel points to broken European Hospital as... it prepares to clear Gaza City hospitals Israeli Army Radio and the Times of Israel reported Saturday that the European Hospital in Khan Younis will serve as the replacement for all Gaza City hospitals as the army moves to seize the city — but Gaza’s Health Ministry says the facility is devastated and nowhere near ready to operate. In May this year, the hospital was hit by a heavy Israeli airstrike targeting a tunnel beneath the compound. The attack killed at least 28 people, caused massive damage to the facility (including roads and infrastructure), and led to the evacuation of its remaining patients. The Times of Israel described medical staff cleaning and clearing the compound today, after the IDF finally allowed access, and cited Israeli officials who said the UN and international aid groups are drawing up plans to restart the hospital “as an additional medical response” for the estimated one million Palestinians expected to be forcibly displaced. But Gaza’s Ministry of Health rejected that narrative, saying an initial assessment found massive damage to sewage, water, electricity, and oxygen systems, as well as to buildings and medical equipment. It warned that even if resources were provided immediately, it would take at least two months and $1.3 million just to restart the hospital at a minimal level, and six more months and another $3 million for full operation. The ministry stressed it will not evacuate any hospitals in Gaza governorate and renewed its demand for protection of health facilities and staff. Dr. Mohammed Abu Salmiya, director of Gaza’s al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City, told Al-Araby TV that if Israel invades Gaza City, “we will face a new massacre,” warning that more than 2,000 patients remain trapped in city hospitals with nowhere safe to go.show more

🚨Gaza Health Director: Israeli Forces Bombed Indonesian Hospital, Fired... on Fleeing Patients Dr. Muneer Alboursh, Director of Gaza’s Health Ministry, told Al-Jazeera that Israeli forces repeatedly attacked the Indonesian Hospital in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza—including opening fire on its intensive care unit and wounding one of the patients inside. Another man was killed by a drone strike near the hospital’s oxygen station. Hospital staff retrieved his body and buried him in the hospital garden. More details: ➤ Israeli helicopters surrounded the facility and opened fire to block patients from entering or leaving. Meanwhile, Israeli bulldozers demolished the hospital’s northern wall and bulldozed its front yard. ➤ The hospital, which serves 400,000 people in northern Gaza, has now been destroyed three times, Alboursh said. He accused Israel of seeking to collapse Gaza’s health system and terrorize its medical staff. ➤ Alboursh said 3,000 WHO aid trucks remain stuck in Egypt’s Al-Arish, awaiting permission to enter Gaza, while Israel “manipulates the media” by falsely claiming aid is being distributed. ➤ He condemned reported Israeli plans to ration food by caloric intake per person, declaring: “All their plans will fail in the face of our people’s steadfastness.” Latest from the Ground: Medical sources at the facility told Drop Site News that Israeli tanks laid siege to the Indonesian Hospital in Beit Lahia for more than a day, surrounding it and opening fire on the building. The hospital’s main gate and yard were destroyed, electricity was cut, and crews inside were unable to move. Videos shared with Drop Site captured the sound of heavy gunfire near the facility. Contact was lost with 55 people trapped inside, including four doctors, eight nurses, and dozens of immobile patients. Hospital sources said no evacuation orders were given and no warnings preceded the attack. The siege came just hours after Israeli forces destroyed Awda Hospital in Tal Al-Zaatar and forced the shutdown of both the Kuwaiti Field Hospital and the European Hospital in Khan Younis. All hospitals in northern Gaza have now been put out of service. Sources told Drop Site the Israeli forces appeared to be trying to intimidate those inside the hospital—likely to pressure an evacuation. After maneuvering around the facility, the tanks eventually withdrew. “Things are okay now,” a medical source said. “God willing, it’ll be a peaceful night for us.” Videos shared by medical source at Indonesian Hospitalshow more

❗️⚠️🇨🇭 - Footage capturing the moment a deadly fire... broke out at a bar in Switzerland has circulated on social media. Reports suggest the blaze may have been ignited by sparklers attached to champagne bottles during New Year's celebrations. Video shows patrons desperately trying to extinguish flames on the ceiling, but their efforts failed as the fire spread rapidly. The incident occurred shortly after midnight on January 1, 2026, at Le Constellation, a popular lounge in the upscale ski resort of Crans-Montana in the Swiss Alps. A powerful blaze, accompanied by what witnesses described as an explosion-like flashover, engulfed the venue, turning a festive gathering into tragedy. Authorities have confirmed around 40 deaths and approximately 115 injuries, many severe, with victims including numerous young people and international tourists. While the exact cause remains under investigation, multiple eyewitnesses reported that staff carried champagne bottles topped with lit sparklers close to the wooden ceiling, sparking the initial flames. Officials have ruled out foul play, describing it as an accidental fire, and noted that identification of victims is ongoing due to the severity of burns. Switzerland has declared a period of national mourning in response to one of its worst recent disasters.show more
