Easiest grip of them all!! Come on now do the hard one

Scott Forsyth's profile picture

In my old age I'm pretty intentional with how I do things. This grip allows me to do pullups without shoulder pain.

@DoctorFibonacci Smart, tore a shoulder tendon doing traditional at similar weight and rep range lol.

@DoctorFibonacci Sometimes when you've been around the block you would just how you do things!

@WiskeyCuinaz @DoctorFibonacci My favorite is when all the inexperienced teenagers give you shit. Like if you’re still lifting in 10 years (probably won’t be) let me know if your stance has changed.. also different things work for different people it’s not cut and dry

Correct. I'm not doing pullups to impress the form police. I'm doing them to develop my back for the sport of Bodybuilding. I do things with intention. To each their own. But when I do a neutral grip there is a reason. When I don't go to extreme range of motion there is a reason. People are funny.

Change your hand grip to a standard pullup and your reps would drop by half. I'm unimpressed with your performance.

Nice work my man. An excellent hypertrophy movement, as evidenced by your size. Those modified pull-ups are no joke at that size. Keep up the great work

Scott Forsyth's profile picture
Scott Forsyth1 month ago

Thanks, Rich. Sometimes it's about finding another way to get something done. This grip hammers my upper lats and shoulder blades in a very good way.

That is impressive.I can barely muster 5 or maybe 7 pull ups on a really good day.I am 65 yrs old and weigh 275.

Not a pull up. Not even close to full extension. 🙄

Scott Forsyth's profile picture
Scott Forsyth1 month ago

Correct. And intentional 😉

Scott Forsyth's profile picture
Scott Forsyth1 month ago

Thank you. The most I ever did in my prime was 30 then 20 for a total of 50 in two sets.

Is that more of a chin up?

Scott Forsyth's profile picture
Scott Forsyth1 month ago

Sure. Whatever they are, they're a great way for me to attack lats without shoulder impingement.

Based in Christ's profile picture
Based in Christ1 month ago

Was asking authentically btw. Well done on those 💪🏻

Scott Forsyth's profile picture
Scott Forsyth1 month ago

Haha my bad. Sarcasm meter is askew. I guess you could call them that. For me, literally, they allow me to attack a pull up style movement with minimal pain.

Any huge dude doing pull-ups is always impressive. Most big dudes ONLY do pull downs. Sure they’re not strict but there’s a time and place for strict, light kip, and full kip (muscle ups/crossshit).

Scott Forsyth's profile picture

I'm just trying to get a bigger back 😔

I was reliably told big guys don’t do pull-ups. What a shame it was all a farce.

Reading comments about ROM, grip, kip.......screw that, this is impressive. Keep up the great work sir!

That ratio is wild. Curious how your grip holds up at that weight on the last few reps.

Scott Forsyth's profile picture
Scott Forsyth1 month ago

Grip is fine. It's the upper lats for me that tire out.

I love doing chin ups as well. Better on the shoulder then normal pull ups

>kipping >⅔ extensions Impressive but why say 18 pullups when thats not whats happening?

Scott Forsyth's profile picture
Scott Forsyth1 month ago

In your mind, correct, that's not what is happening. It's all an illusion!

implying's profile picture

Oh so its all just weak ragebait then Bit sad

Big Bean's profile picture
Big Bean1 month ago

You never have less than 20 degrees of elbow flexion. A proper pull-up is palms away, full extension, pause then chest to bar height. You did exactly zero pull ups.

Scott Forsyth's profile picture
Scott Forsyth1 month ago

I didn't realize I was training for your pull ups test! Oh well! Zero pull ups, but big lats!

Big Bean's profile picture
Big Bean1 month ago

You’re doing a different exercise. Not wrong, but not pull-ups.

Scott Forsyth's profile picture
Scott Forsyth1 month ago

Sure feels like I'm pulling up 😩

Big Bean's profile picture
Big Bean1 month ago

Might feel like it but it doesn’t look like it.

Red Prepper's profile picture

I think you did great and look great! I’m almost 50 and have to change how I do some exercises due to different physical issues. Haters gonna hate. They’re weak mentally and physically.

Scott Forsyth's profile picture
Scott Forsyth1 month ago

Nobody knows my body better than myself. I tend not to do things that cause pain, or try not to. But still trying to do specific movements that help build muscle.
