A dexterous hand capable of operating an iPhone Impressive, with nimble fingertip control. INSPIRE ROBOTS from Beijing has released a new dexterous hand featuring tactile and force sensing, and equipped with a motion library, making it ready to use right out of the box. Especially noteworthy is the modular finger design, allowing users to easily replace a damaged finger. With 13 degrees of freedom and a single-hand load capacity of 30kg, it can be used in general applications such as factory component handling, precision assembly, and warehouse logistics sorting. Notably, this company has already sold over 10,000 of these dexterous hands.

Hands are as important as the brain. From Shenzhen, Stella Robot has unveiled the PANTHEON HAND 22:a new generation of bionic dexterous hand that combines 22 degrees of freedom with remarkable strength and finesse. It’s a hand that truly understands precision. It can lift 30 kilograms, yet is delicate enough to thread a needle. Each finger can bear 1.5 kilograms, and the entire hand can gently hold a piece of tofu or sense the subtle expansion of a balloon. Powered by a tendon-driven mechanism with integrated actuators inside the forearm, it achieves compact design and natural, human-like movement. From precision assembly and component handling to material transport and human-robot collaboration, the PANTHEON HAND 22 shows what it means for humanoid robots to truly work with their hands.

Can a dexterous hand still function after being run over by a 2-ton car? The dexterous hand is the most expensive component of a humanoid robot, and if it breaks, the task is interrupted. Hangzhou BrainCo conducted a rigorous test on its latest dexterous hand, Revo2: it was run over by a nearly 2-ton Volvo car, dropped from a height of 5m, dropped 30m, and subjected to forceful impacts from a Unitree G1 robot. It still managed to maintain a stable grip and continue operating. Revo2 is BrainCo's next-generation dexterous/bionic hand, released last year. yes, a human-robot hybrid hand. It's very light, only 383g, 20kg payload, capable of precision manipulation down to 0.1mm (such as threading a needle), and possesses multi-dimensional tactile perception (hardness, texture, direction, proximity, etc.). This test also demonstrates that after achieving breakthroughs in performance, a dexterous hand also needs to be extremely durable and able to function under extreme environmental pressures.

Holy… 🤯 this is literally a superhuman hand. One hand can act as both a left and a right hand. Depending on the task or the object being grasped, it can autonomously switch between left-hand and right-hand configurations, bend in reverse, and achieve degrees of freedom beyond a human hand, maximizing the efficiency of a single hand. it comes from a company in Jiangsu called ChangingTek Robotics. You could say the hand is a bit like an octopus, but it isn’t soft. It’s rigid and capable of gripping tools like wrenches, screwdrivers, drinks, and basically almost any object.

.Brett Adcock explains why Figure pivoted away from designing their humanoid robot's hands after human hands: "This is extremely important. If we want to solve AGI and get to human intelligence in the physical world—it's all going to start with the hands." "Our first-generation hand is a tendon-driven hand." "The rationale here is that a human hand is like this: most of our motors are in our forearm and little tendons drive all the fingers." "It ended up becoming the wrong engineering choice." "We recently unveiled our high degree of freedom, next-generation hand a month ago. This hand has human-level dexterity, as many joints in the hand as a human."

Building a fully actuated, human-level robotic hand by strength, speed, and range of motion is hard. Making it incredibly durable is even more challenging. Clone has pioneered anthropomorphic hands with 27 degrees of freedom, human-level grip strength and speed, and the most durable artificial muscles in the world. The Hand in this demo is missing middle flexor muscles, but here’s an update on the neural joint controller.

New humanoid startup out of Hungary: Allonic The unique hand design moves away from rigid industrial design toward a biomimetic approach. - Each finger is braided around like a rope in a single autonomous process; this process also includes the threading of the tendons through the braided "tissues." - The braidings wrap around and provide distributed load across the surface of the finger rather than a single point of failure. - The hand naturally conforms to objects during a grip and allows for variable stiffness like human hands. The cost of the hand (not including motors) could be as low as $50.

Elon Musk: The hand is extremely complex. There are 50 actuators in the hand and forearm Actuator is the motor, gearbox, and power electronics. so that's 100 per robot. There's a lot of complexity So, in order to do dextrous tasks, you have to have a hand with the sensitivity, precision, and degrees of freedom of a human hand. Something we find easy to do, like pick up a screwdriver or turn a wrench, or even say thread a needle, or play the guitar, actually require a lot of dexterity

Dexterous hands are one of the biggest challenges in robotics, with even Elon Musk noting their development accounts for half of a humanoid robot's total work. A new approach from the Y-Hand M1 bionic hand may be a significant step forward. Based on an international first-of-its-kind "bionic tension-compression theory," the M1 replaces traditional rigid hinges with a 6-DoF joint system and uses self-developed magnetic artificial muscles. This design allows it to perform complex, human-like tasks, including: ► Mastering all 33 Feix dexterous grasp categories. ► Precisely twirling playing cards and threading a needle with subtle human-like adjustments. ► Smoothly twisting bottle caps and turning book pages. The team behind the M1 is already working on the next-gen Y-Hand M3, aiming for around 70 degrees of freedom, believing that robotic hands may soon reach or even exceed human-level dexterity.

Awesome! This is literally a superhuman hand. 🤖✋ ChangingTek Robotics just dropped a dexterous hand that actually morphs between left and right hand configurations on the fly. It uses cable-driven tech to pull off shapes and reverse bends that human hands can't even dream of doing. The power is real too, with a 50N grip force and 10N at the fingertips while staying precise within 0.1N. It is kind of like a rigid octopus, meaning it is tough enough to crank a wrench or screwdriver but smooth enough to grab a drink. Having this much range of motion in a single hand basically doubles the efficiency of any robotic arm in tight spots. The human brain can bring rubber to life with one simple trick: Cover a person’s hand and place a rubber hand next to it, then stroke their hand and its facsimile, and suddenly the person will begin to “feel” the touch in the fake appendage. The rubber hand illusion helps demonstrate how our senses work together to create the feeling of ownership over our bodies, a fundamental part of self-awareness. A 2025 study demonstrated that octopuses also fall for the rubber arm trick—the first documentation of the phenomenon outside of mammals: #ScienceMagArchives

From day one, mimic has been focused on a single goal: general-purpose dexterous manipulation. Today we're proud to announce the mimic hand M1 and the mimic wearable U1. We believe the only way to solve dexterous manipulation at scale is by going full-stack at the frontier of physical AI, building every layer ourselves around one fixed point, the human hand. The M1 is a highly backdrivable, tendon-driven hand that covers the full range of human capability, from heavy payloads to fine manipulation.
