APPLEBAUM: Witkoff and Kushner had a pretty profound effect on how peace negotiations been conducted, and it’s not positive. They prolonged war in Ukraine because their attitude was, "We’re going to Moscow to do deals with Russian companies." Russians were delighted by this, we know that they were offering...

APPLEBAUM: I think Trump genuinely believed that he was friends with Putin, and that that’s how he would bring the war to an end. Trump was very surprised to learn that Russians have different set of interests, bigger than him, that he wasn’t able to influence Putin. So I think it’s fair to say it’s pretty clear that Trump doesn’t understand or know Russia, or Putin, very well. And unfortunately, negotiations that Trump conducted with Russians in first part of his term were very counterproductive. They gave Russians idea that Americans would let them keep fighting, would get Ukrainians to give up their territory. Putin was never seriously interested in ending the war. We’ve never seen any sign that he’s willing to accept ceasefire. If Trump had come to power and said, “I’m going to continue to support Ukraine, I want Ukraine to win the war.” Then this war might be over by now, because this war will be over when Russians understand that they can’t win. When Russians finally understand that Ukraine will not become a Russian colony, and that it’s not worth fighting. Most colonial wars last about 10 years. Whether you think this started in 2014 or 2022, you could be optimistic or pessimistic. It’s also true that most colonial wars are eventually ended not by the person who started them. Algeria is a good example. Most colonial wars also end with turmoil in capital. Once you understand it’s colonial war, then you know what’s at stake.

🚨Prof. Jeffrey Sachs : Is the Ukraine War Over? 🚨Ukraine is, in a state of collapse that is accelerating and inevitable. 🚨And the only question is, how long the agony goes on. 🚨Does Europe and the United States fight to the last Ukrainian, or do they admit that this was yet another debacle starting back in the 1990s when they said contrary to promises that had been made to the Soviet Union and Russia, about NATO not enlarging, that they would enlarge NATO all the way to Russia's border in Ukraine and Georgia. So the United States, and Germany broke a very explicit binding commitment made in 1990, and it brought Ukraine into a disaster. The Ukrainians were smart enough to oppose what the United States was doing. They didn't want to join NATO. Their president, President Viktor Yanukovych, did not want to join NATO because he knew Ukraine is in the middle, and to join NATO would invite war. So the United States helped to overthrow the president and engulfed Ukraine in a massive destructive war. Ukraine is now being pummeled. And the, we have, our senators like Senator Richard Blumenthal who actually said, and he was, one of many who said, "This is great value. No Americans are dying." Literally. We can fight Russia, but it's not American deaths. Yes, it's Ukrainian destruction is what all of this has wrought. And it is accelerating. The Ukrainian economy is entering a state of collapse, and Ukraine is entering a winter in which there will be basically, a, breakdown of, the most, basic, economy because in this war, Ukraine attacks, Russia and then with the British and American support, and then Russia hits back larger, which all of us have been saying for years would be the inevitable outcome. So instead of peace, we have been destroying Ukraine.

🇷🇺🇺🇦 Prof. John Mearsheimer: ‘Ukraine’s long-range drone attacks into Russia have BACKFIRED, Russia retaliated by closing the Odessa Port and turned Ukraine into a land-locked country.’ ‘The Ukrainian drones have been Ukraine’s great saviour on the battlefield. I believe that this war would have ended a year or two if the Ukrainians didn’t have drones because the Ukrainians have a significant shortage of manpower, a significant shortage of artillery. And in a war that was heavily dependent on just manpower and artillery, I think the Ukrainians would have collapsed a while ago. But the drones have really helped keep them in the fight in an important way. So that’s one dimension to the drone issue. Then there’s the whole question of using drones in long-range attacks into Mother Russia. And this of course is what the Ukrainians have been doing big time in recent months. And I don’t think that those attacks have had any meaningful impact on the course of the war. And of course as you were alluding to, if anything it speeded up the end of the war because there is good reason to think that the Russian response to these long-range drone attacks by the Ukrainians is that the Russians have decided to retaliate by attacking Odessa and other Ukrainian sites on the Black Sea. And this has had a devastating effect on Ukraine because so much of Ukraine’s agricultural product as well as its industrial product moves out of Ukraine via the Black Sea ports. And of course the most prominent one is Odessa. But what’s happened here, and it’s very important to emphasise this, is that the Russians have basically closed the Odessa ports. And the end result is that today Ukraine is effectively a landlocked country. And given the percentage of exports, Ukrainian exports that go out of those ports through the Black Sea, this is going to have devastating effects on the Ukrainian economy. So if anything the long-range drone attack on the part of the Ukrainians against Mother Russia are backfiring.’ Watch the full interview in the quoted post below 👇

🇷🇺 Vladimir Soloviev (Vladimir Soloviev): [An Armageddon-like huge war in Europe is inevitable] because that’s what [European] governments have been heavily invested in. [Russia] was not escalating first. Let me remind you: we were ready to stop in Istanbul. And it was not even a question of Zaporizhzhia. It was not even a question of Kherson. And the Ukrainian side agreed. And it was Boris Johnson and Macron who insisted on continuing the war. That led to more than 1 million Ukrainians being killed. More than 1 million Ukrainians have been killed. And that’s why the Istanbul documents are so scary for European and Ukrainian officials. Because in those documents, there’s not even a word of conquering Ukraine, of grabbing territories, of colonialism. No. It’s only Crimea and Donbas. That was it. Every single time we have to continue the war, we are saying that next time we’ll negotiate on the conditions that we’re facing on the battlefield. And every time it’s worse for the Ukrainian side. And every time Ukrainians are paying with their blood, as has been told by a Polish politician, it’s the best possible scenario. Ukrainians pay with blood, and we provide them with rusty metal. Let me remind you that Lindsey Graham, who is right now facing the devil, and definitely he is in hell, he was the one saying, “Oh, that’s the best possible investment. Russians are dying.” That’s a quote. You were the ones—Europeans and American taxpayers—who, without even knowing it, are paying for the end of this world. Macron, heavily beaten by his wife, couldn’t find any better way to prove his masculine energy than by sending Ukrainians to die. I’m not sure whether Merz is popular right now in Germany. But he is willing, with Pistorius, to participate in this war. They are all getting back to the huge militaries that they used to have. They are talking about the enrollment of young people in the military. They want to make it obligatory. What for? What for? To fight Russia? For what purpose? Oh, yeah, I forgot. Russia is going to strike Europe with all its mighty force, sending land troops. Who believes in this bullshit? If that was the purpose to start with, why are we still not in Poland and the Baltic states, or in Finland, with whom we have borders? Why do we have to go to you through Ukraine? We never wanted to. And Putin stated it 2,000 times. But in Europe, they don’t want to listen. They want this war.
