Boron may play a supportive role for optimizing testosterone. Supplementing with 6-12 mg per day can increase free testosterone (not total testosterone) by suppressing SHBG. It's not something typically consumed in the diet, but you can find a multivitamin that has it. Note that most studies to date are... show more

More strategies for increasing testosterone production in our latest episode with @Derek_Fitness. Full episode and show notes here.

Boron's effect is temporary. It does not increase testosterone long-term, and raises estradiol. No supplements produce a clinically meaningful increase in testosterone, and are a waste of time. Only SERMs like enclomiphene & actual testosterone will produce real results.

Interesting point. Boron tends to fly under the radar, but it influences much more than SHBG - it also plays a role in bone metabolism, vitamin D activity, and inflammatory modulation. In functional medicine, I occasionally check boron intake in men with stubbornly low free testosterone despite optimising zinc, magnesium, vitamin D, sleep, and body composition. That said, I always remind patients that correcting the foundations usually moves the needle more than chasing a single micronutrient. Boron might be a useful adjunct, not a standalone fix.

Boron is pretty abundant in the diet: - leafy green veggies - fruit - raisins - nuts Even coffee, wine and beer has boron. And the body absorbs 85-90% of ingested boron. (Interesting connection w T, but as a standalone unlikely to move the needle). PMID: 25063690

White mushrooms work too

Important nuance: boron may support free T by lowering SHBG, but human data is still limited.

Boron is great. It does deplete Vitamin B2 though. So take b2 with it

Following a function health blood panel, my SHBG was elevated. Took boron for 6 months and it reduced my SHBG significantly so there is something to be said about its effectiveness.

It would be interesting to see whether long-term boron supplementation influences other hormonal pathways, such as estrogen or cortisol regulation, in addition to its effects on testosterone. Has anyone monitored these outcomes?

Boron for testosterone? Solid hack. But stack it with peptides like Kisspeptin for even bigger T-boosts and libido perks. We see it transform energy levels weekly. Worth a trial...

@Reece_Smiles

I wonder how much more the free [T] increase when stacked with acetyl-l-carnitine, which is known to decouple testosterone from albumin

Am fascinated by the electron that's "pivotal" in biology, physics & even electrical engineering if things. Manipulating the rules of electron flow can mean manipulating cells in the body. Like "all" cancer cells surfaces R negative charged. Possibility? Extract t lymphocytes,

The potential role of boron in optimizing free testosterone levels by suppressing SHBG is indeed noteworthy. Given its limited dietary sources, supplementation within the 6-12 mg range could be a valuable strategy for those seeking to enhance their hormonal balance.

Boron ia great. Also this dude did so much juice he looks like frankin dork.

On delaying greying of hair in elderly. If U eat phosvitins, polyphenols, oxalates "separately" from meat, particular "lean" white meat, then those elderly might get more heme iron absorption that's used for hair pigmentation. As U grow older, ability 2 absorb iron gets less, so

6mg works well. There are studies in women

Interesting mention of boron’s impact on free testosterone levels! While the role of boron in hormone metabolism is insightful, it also highlights a broader discussion on nutritional supplements and their varied impacts on health. Have there been any particular studies or trials that have captured your attention on this topic? And how might this correlate with dietary patterns in different populations? what to do whe SHBG is low? is it good thing SHBG is low?

SHBG goes up for physically active individuals with limited carb intake. Boron helps, yes, but you aren't addressing the cause.

@Derek_Fitness Suppressing SHBG isn’t ideal for a lot of people. Unless you’re high out of range.

The evidence is small basically

i think it was in real peanut butter

Cholesterol creates testosterone. Keep you cholesterol up.

I take 9mg a day.

Testosterone reserves is "finite" in body. Like producing too much insulin =?? U know what. Same for anything else. EG-. Too much testosterone production for body building could deplete ability to produce hormones against mood swings; of thickening of blood etc etc But

Can you talk about Quinine or Potassium? I have found both to feel good in my body when I have some (Quinine is in tonic water), and obviously bananas have Potassium.

So after destroying people telling them to take the vaccine, you give them supplements?

Celery

Suppressing shbg isn’t a good thing

It's interesting to know a lot about the purpose of each thing related to improving health and fitness But if everything is about a person taking 20-30 supplement, pills it's not so great in long run
