Continuing my fun with the Enigma machine: I wrote two emulators for a Commodore 64, one in BASIC and the other in Assembly (Turbo Macro Pro, coded on a C64). The BASIC version does about 3 characters per second. The assembly version can encrypt/decrypt roughly 1500 characters per second.

When I was a kid, I learned SO MANY math and computing concepts from Logo on the Commodore 64. Recursion was a big one. As a seasoned technologist, I'm still blown away by how much they packed into a single 170kb floppy to give a simple 8-bit computer so much power and flexibility. It's only now that I've started playing with the built-in assembly language interfaces in Logo. Something that was completely over my head as an 11 year old. Here's the kind of thing I did a lot of in the 80s (and even understood most of what I was doing).

5 facts you didn't know about Kung-Fu Master, the classic 1985 Commodore 64 game from Data East (Developed by Berkeley Softworks): 1) On level 1, you could hold down the Shift Key and G for a gun, as seen in the video. This only worked on level 1. 2) An add-on to the gun cheat: press Shift and G and stand still for 1 second to show "By Chris Hawley" and then reset to the start. 3) Chris Hawley never made another game. 4) The USA Floppy disk was a Flippy Disk. On one side was the Commodore 64 version and on the other (flip it over) had the Apple II version. 5) The game is loosely inspired by the Jackie Chan movie Wheels on Meals. Have you watched it, and do you see the similarity? Bonus fact: You may recognize the developer, Berkeley Softworks, from GEOS. This game and Karate Champ were the only two games they made before creating the very successful GEOS for the C64.

🚨 I believe I discovered something that can be added to the timeline and could potentially conflict with Frank Tureks’ statement of going on a walk with Charlie around 8pm MST on the 8th. On Sept 8th, 6:15pm - Roughly 9:10pm MST the Vikings v. Bears game airs. The following day, Sept 9th, Charlie appears on The Charlie Kirk show, and per his emotional rant on the Bears loss, it is clear that he was heavily invested in this game, specifically, the second half. Charlie stated that he was screaming at his TV and “woke up everyone.” I can only assume he is talking about his children here. Remember the game ended at roughly 9:10pm. The second half of that game would have indeed, eaten up the entire 8 o’clock hour. Per Frank Turek— This was a “long walk.” Do you believe Charlie could have fit in a “long walk” with Frank at around 8pm, all while watching the second half of the Bears game, which came to a close, again, at roughly 9:10pm?
