Another thing that is going to be released with next version of VRC Light Volumes, is an in-game debugger tool! You'll be able to preview every volume, voxel, and point light. Works in any world that supports VRC Light Volumes.

Now Point Light Volumes supports Cubemap projections! Volumetric fog makes it look just stunning! But here's some bad news... If I release it, all world creators will need to update their worlds to the new Light Volumes version. Otherwise it will break the back compatibility. Updating avatars will be really suggested too, to support the point light volumes, but worlds are something that is more important! But it will be just as easy as to reupload the world.

Point Light Volumes prototype! They can be both Point and Spot Lights, can be calculated mathematically or use a special LUT texture that controls the cone falloff and attenuation! Up to 128 lights per scene. Works up to 3- 4 times faster than regular Light Volumes. Can also be controlled with AudioLink individually!

A very rough proof of concept of Baked Directional AO for VRC Light Volumes. I'm not sure if I want to integrate it into light volumes for real, but it could be a VERY performant solution to make super cheap realtime contact shadows.

Testing VRC Light Volumes 3.0.0 in some real conditions. Here's an example of a world fully lit up with VRCLV 3. No baked lightmaps here at all, only semi-realtime lights that are baked in game. Every light can be controlled separately in runtime. 70+ active light sources here.

Spot Light Volumes! Everything is parametric here and not baked into a 3D texture, as regular light volumes, which makes it even more optimized. Will work on it a little bit more and see if it's worth to add it to the main project branch.

Light Volumes 2.0 will support baked 3D shadows for point and spot lights, and that's how it can be used! Thanks to Pema99 for implementing this feature!

FlexiCurve, my garland tool, updated to v.1.2.1. Now it supports tinsel garlands and VRC Light Volumes! And it's open-source and free: You can also support me buying the new tinsels preset for it on my Booth or Patreon!

Today I release new GPU Particle Volumes system and the GPU Snow Particle shaders for it! This snow shader can render hundreds of thousands of particles at the same time even on a weak GPU. It also supports VRC Light Volumes. Get it on my Booth or Patreon!

I'm working on a new major VRC Light Volumes update! - Baked realtime shadows (very performant) - Animated cookies and cubemaps - Optimized area lights - No more legacy code - Almost full back compatibility with older light volumes shaders (excluding new shadows)

New prototype of VRC Light Volumes real-time shadows! It uses EVSM сontact-hardening soft shadows. Performance seems good on PC, but I will do more tests. Finally something that looks better than what you can achieve in Unity by default!

Working on a GPU particles rain system that can work together with VRC Light Volumes and my prototype of a volumetric fog. Every raindrop creates ripples and small droplets from it. Twitter compresses the quality like crazy, it looks 100 times better in game.

Here's something I promised to show you… GPU grass that is actually fast and usable! It can be dynamically scattered over any mesh in your scene, can be bent by people's avatars or props, and it even works on Quest and mobile just fine. Still WIP, but you can check this world:

VRC Light Volumes v.3.0.0 will support Area Light realtime texture emission, almost like LTCGI. Less physically accurate, but very performant!

This week I've been working on the VRChat Light Volumes scripts to bring you an easy and comfortable editor workflow. I also implemented the Volumes rotation feature and optimized the shader a lot to make it work even more solid on potatoe-PCs. Here's a small video of how it currently works.
