@elmerfem This is going to be like a $10k laptop isn't it. 😂 I'll still but it tho.

@elmerfem 😁 This feature won´t make it in the first version of the laptop. Cost is one reason but the necessary time to optimize this feature and make it work reliably is the bigger problem. To avoid building a feature creep, the first variant will include only a basic trackpad.

@elmerfem Either a combination with a capacitive matrix registers the position of the finger and focusses the array based on this information or the piezo elements act as active sonar and register the area with high attenuation where the finger touches the glass.

@elmerfem there was a business that made transducers especially for this back in the mid 00s, they shipped a … Hitachi tablet iirc with multitouch haptics and it also used the screen as the speaker. I had a set of PC speakers with their transducers way back and they were pretty nice

@elmerfem You may want to check scientific literature on haptics and tactile surfaces to go further on that. Nice animation tho.

@elmerfem That would be neat. Wouldn't the capacitive sensing become more troublesome? Subtly changing the distance between plates when the wave passes through at whatnot.
