One of the most fascinating moments I’ve ever witnessed in Tadoba. 🐅🦌 A tiger was walking calmly towards our gypsy, still at a good distance. We watched him continuously for almost 5 minutes. Then something incredible happened… Instead of running away, a group of deer started following the tiger from a safe distance. The tiger even turned back 2–3 times to look at them before continuing on its way. My understanding is that once a tiger has been detected, it loses its biggest advantage stealth. By keeping the predator in sight, the deer may be ensuring it can’t disappear into cover and launch a surprise attack. A known danger can sometimes be less risky than an unseen one. But I’m curious… Why do you think the deer were following the tiger? Was the tiger already full after a successful hunt? Were the deer intentionally keeping track of the predator? Or is there another behavioral explanation? I’d love to hear the thoughts of wildlife experts and fellow safari enthusiasts. #Tadoba #Tiger

Our Elephants are checking out the Mobile Wildlife Forensic cum Disease Diagnostic Laboratory at a Tamil Nadu Forest Department elephant camp. An initiative of the Advanced Institute for Wildlife Conservation in collaboration with Tamil Nadu Forest Department, this first-of-its-kind facility is providing advanced veterinary care directly into the field. Equipped with a haematology analyser, serum biochemistry analyser, microscope, centrifuge, refrigerators and a -20°C deep freezer, it enables rapid on-site diagnosis, disease surveillance, forensic investigations and instant diagnostic reports. By bringing sophisticated diagnostics to the doorstep of elephants and other wildlife, it enables faster treatment, reduces the stress of transportation and improves the chances of survival. The Tamil Nadu Forest Department has just launched another AI-powered Command and Control Centre using 46 AI enabled thermal cameras to detect wildlife movement early and warn people with real time alerts. This is backed by round-the-clock monitoring and rapid response teams. We plan to minimise wildlife and Human deaths aiming zero casualties.These are still early days, but the effort is on ground. Funded by State Planning Commission - Tamil Nadu the project is painstakingly executed by the dynamic & committed DFO Thiru N. Vengatesh and his energetic team. A surprising development has emerged in recent days. The Chief Wildlife Warden of Uttarakhand has issued orders to the concerned forest ranges to kill 13 leopards and 3 bears, and to tranquilise 21 tigers. These animals have repeatedly attacked villagers, killing and injuring several people. The root causes are clear: large-scale conversion of forest land into agricultural fields, indiscriminate exploitation of forests by local communities, and the rapid rise in tiger numbers. As a result, leopards have been pushed towards human settlements. This is by no means a sudden or unexpected process. When even tigers are beginning to face a shortage of suitable habitat in Uttarakhand, what chance do leopards have? Today, nearly 40 tigers are already confined behind bars at the Jim Corbett rescue centre due to human-wildlife conflict. These additional 21 tigers further highlight the deteriorating condition of our forests. Interestingly, most of these are young tigers that were raised by their mothers in buffer zones and areas close to villages. I cannot view this issue from only one side. These animals are precious, but so are human lives. In recent years, the pace of human encroachment into forests has been alarming. Strict action must be taken against this instead of providing political protection by treating these encroachers as a vote bank. All forest land under illegal occupation should be immediately freed and handed back to wildlife. I once again request the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, and the Chief Wildlife Warden to revoke or thoroughly review this order to kill these animals. The invisible Glass experiment Scientists once placed a transparent glass barrier inside an aquarium. On one side was a fierce pike, and on the other side were several smaller fish swimming freely. When the hungry pike saw the smaller fish, it immediately rushed forward to attack. Bang. It slammed straight into the glass and bounced back. Confused, the pike kept trying again and again, but every attempt ended the same way. The repeated collisions injured its head and knocked off some of its scales. Eventually, the pike became frightened and retreated to a corner of the tank. After some time, the scientists quietly removed the glass barrier. The smaller fish now swam freely throughout the aquarium, even brushing against the pike’s mouth. But the pike never tried to eat them again. Even though it was hungry, it refused to attack. In its mind, the invisible wall was still there. A few days later, the pike reportedly died of starvation, surrounded by food. This phenomenon is often referred to as the Pike Effect or Pike Syndrome. It’s often used as a metaphor for how repeated failure can create invisible limits in the mind.

For more than 30 years, tiger conservation has been one of our highest priorities. Tigers are found in only 13 countries and India is home to nearly 75% of the world's tiger population. Maharashtra has also done exceedingly well in tiger conservation and is home to 444 tigers across 6 tiger reserves today. This success is the result of continuous efforts by the government in protecting natural habitats, adopting scientific conservation practices and working closely with local communities. With our five-point conservation strategy and the collective efforts of all stakeholders, Maharashtra will continue to strengthen its conservation work and soon emerge as the leading state in tiger conservation. Timing is everything, isn’t it? And sometimes being in the right place at the right time feels well, timely, or even predetermined. With wildlife photography, it’s all about being in the right place at the right time. The more you know about your subject, the better because it increases your chances of being where you need to be when you need to be there. There is also an element of just letting go and taking what is given to you. It’s always best to have no expectations at all when it comes to wildlife. On this morning, everything did fall perfectly into place, and I was able to capture this dreamy scene of a beautiful Dalmatian pelican and its reflection on smooth water as it came in for a landing. Timing is everything, isn’t it? And sometimes being in the right place at the right time feels well, timely, or even predetermined. With wildlife photography, it’s all about being in the right place at the right time. The more you know about your subject, the better because it increases your chances of being where you need to be when you need to be there. There is also an element of just letting go and taking what is given to you. It’s always best to have no expectations at all when it comes to wildlife. On this morning, everything did fall perfectly into place, and I was able to capture this dreamy scene of a beautiful Dalmatian pelican and its reflection on smooth water as it came in for a landing. Cycles by Material Protocol Arts Cycles by Material Protocol Arts is a network sculpture composed of space and time, a meditation on recurrence and change. Time and its manner of repeating appear as themes in art and metaphysics through the ages. Heraclitus steps into and out of a river, a new man each time while history draws irregular spiral loops, rhyming and stuttering out its story. At its core, Cycles is a network artwork deployed on Ethereum. It comprises an abstract kinetic sculpture of rotating rings, composed of 512 individual lenses. Each lens represents a unique simulation, moving through parametric space and offering viewers a window into complex, evolving patterns. By using Ethereum as a networked computer, the artwork can develop over time and accept interactions via the network. Importantly, the core of Cycles isn't just a JavaScript file loaded and stored on Ethereum, but instead a program running live on Ethereum itself as a world computer sculpture. Using blockchain technology as material for art making offers artists the chance to make artworks that are new in the context of art history: those that continuously evolve, record their own history, and run autonomously with minimal intervention. Leveraging Ethereum's distributed nature and economic incentives, Cycles aspires to operate on an extended time scale allowing viewers to live with and experience its changes over years, decades or centuries. Cycles is a dynamically running network artwork. Dynamism is a prerequisite for interactivity which Cycles allows for its collectors. The piece includes a method to stop a lens’ movement by freezing it. This causes the lens to focus continuously on the same point in space, causing the changing qualities of its simulation to be fixed and allowing collectors to control its aesthetic presentation. Freezing is a weighted decision. Once a lens is frozen it will require certain conditions to be unlocked. Methods for unfreezing lenses will be unlocked over time. The fact that the behavior of the sculpture can be affected by lens owners means that its future state is non-deterministic and will never be able to be fully predicted. In technical terms, Cycles is composed of Solidity, JavaScript, and SVG code, stored and computed on the Ethereum blockchain. Yesterday I found out there's a "Filter" in some controllers that makes your stick "jitter" to improve aim assist close range, this was used by pros at LAN (allegedly), how can you use and defend using this shit, if I download a macro on my mouse that jitters it so I can have no recoil long range, I'd be instantly banned, now the problem is, its been banned in ALGS but ranked is gonna be infested with this shit. Just ban custom controllers already or atleast do something about it. Shit is getting really sad to be some of the only MNK players left in this amazing game (yes i complain about aimassist alot and i just need to get good i get it) but alot of people (chat) have said that its really sad to be a casual MNK player at this point cause its impossible to keep up

The new-fangled vacuum salesman. This is the best example I've seen of how AI and computer vision is changing consumer electronics. Here Matic Robots founder Mehul comes to my home to give me an in-depth demo (the good stuff starts about 30 minutes into the video). This also shows how products are greatly improved when you have a team that looks at life from first principles. Some things to note? Because of its roller design it doesn't get clogged by pet hair. Because of its computer vision it doesn't get stuck on cords, or fringes on rugs. Because of its AI it doesn't "chew" an expensive rug and destroy it. Because of its 3D real-time scan of your home it lets it do things other vacuums can't.

This was one of the most uncomfortable wildlife sightings I’ve experienced in Nairobi National Park. A magnificent male Lion……trapped! Not by fences. Not by predators. But by us. Surrounded by vehicles on all sides, he had almost no room to move. My guest couldn’t believe what they were witnessing. Neither could I. Somewhere along the way, we’ve forgotten that we are visitors in their home. A photograph or a video is never worth causing stress to an animal. The best wildlife encounters happen when we observe with patience, keep our distance, and allow nature to unfold on its own. Respect isn’t measured by how close you get. It’s measured by the space you give. The future of Nairobi National Park depends not only on protecting its land, but also on changing how we behave within it. Let’s be better. For the Lions. For all wildlife. For the generations that deserve to experience them as they were meant to be—wild and free. Give wildlife space. They were here long before we were. Credit: Paras Chandaria.
