new codex app first impressions! - pros: reliably coding in swift 🤍, a nice UI for kicking off concurrent threads/alerts, clearly there is a lot to unpack across automations/skills - asks: would love to see more killer use cases for automations, perhaps broken down by product type (iOS, web,... electron); had some wrangling on chat context & a feature I expected to be more straightforward overall: I am bought in that a clean/beautiful UI for coordinating many agents (some with long running tasks) is powerful; I sense there's a lot more to unlock with time. I still want the ability to quickly switch between codex and claude code, as they seem to excel in different (+ complementary) dev tasksshow more

This is crazy, I can talk to OpenAI's realtime API, and it'll respond back with voice, and then help call Codex to help me code! Got curious about Codex and its realtime integration, and found codex's feature flag `realtime_conversation` integrated for the codex app-server. How it works: - launch codex app-server with realtime - connect a client to realtime through WebRTC voice connection - Codex app-server is also attached on the side - talk to realtime - realtime decides whether coding is needed, and responds back with events - Codex app-server takes these events and runs codex agent turns - codex writes code like your codex cli exp Keep in mind OpenAI hasn't released this officially, they're still actively working on it, I just created a fork. This is a completely new UX than the usual chat interface for agentic coding. For example, when the agent responds back in voice, it's actually faster for me to read the response, and I don't actually find voice response that useful unless it does so in the background. But image realtime working in the background, you can talk to it, realtime keeps track of the different agents working on your tasks and your status. More to come on demo side, i'll make a more polished version and include voice, but thought this was cool to share. I am hooked on Dynamic Workflows! The idea of generating harnesses on the fly is so compelling that I reverse-engineered it for my agent orchestrator. And then I built a monitoring dashboard (as an HTML artifact) to track tasks, metrics, and reports. I can now use and monitor dynamic workflows in my agent orchestrator with coding agents like Claude Code, Codex, Pi, and even my own custom-built DAIR.AI agent. This is clearly the future of working with agents to accomplish complex, long-running tasks. Some use cases I'm having success with: - Branching deep research tasks (with verification) - Parallel deep research tasks - Session mining of all my agent sessions - Bug hunting - Triaging - Fact-checking - LLM councils - AI simulations - Data synthesis - Evals generation ... and many others Dynamic workflows, like agent skills, feel like an important primitive to not only get the most out of agents but also incorporate dynamic behaviors and important components like cooperation and verification. There is so much exploration ground here. The exciting part is that this is not limited to coding tasks; it extends to business use cases and many other technical domains like science and research.

Such Agents change our role as engineers from Conductor (directing one agent at a time) to Orchestrator (defining tasks for a "fleet" of agents working in parallel), for very well-defined tasks with human review. GitHub's Copilot Agent, as covered at #githubuniverse, is one such example I've been trying and liking. There are a number of options also worth considering, including Jules (also great!), Codex web by OpenAI Developers, and Anthropic's Claude Code for web. Editors like Cursor are also exploring this with some very interesting UX ideas. For the more advanced, orchestrators like Claude Squad, Magnet and Conductor by (nice balance on the engineering/product spectrum) are certainly worth considering. Some caveats: Orchestration has been working well for me in small-medium sized projects: for fixing UI bugs, adding small features etc. This can be good for tackling migrations, upgrading dependencies etc. Enterprise teams are very much still figuring out their "Conductor" patterns but eventually, I do see more orchestration becoming a standard part of the engineering workflow.

🚨 OpenAI just launched Codex, a brand-new autonomous coding agent that can build features and fix bugs on its own. We’ve been using it Every 📧 for a few days, and I’m impressed. I invited Alexander Embiricos (ben davies), a member of the product staff responsible for Codex, to demo Codex and talk about it live on a special edition of AI & I: What Codex is and how it works Codex is designed to be used by senior engineers—it performs coding tasks like adding features or fixing bugs autonomously. It's built to allow you to start many sessions at once, so you can have multiple agents working in parallel. Codex is built to have "taste" OpenAI trained Codex to have the taste of a senior software engineer. It knows how big codebases work, how to write a good PR, and uses clean, minimal code. Why an “abundance mindset” is best for interacting with agents Codex is designed to allow users to delegate many tasks at once without getting caught up in the details. This lets you point an abundance of agents at a specific task like a difficult bug—it’s worth it even if only one of them succeeds. How OpenAI is thinking about agents Codex is one piece of a unified super-assistant OpenAI wants to eventually build—an agent that helps users easily get things done by selecting the right tools for them behind the scenes. OpenAI’s vision for the future of programming In the future developers will probably spend less time writing routine code and more time guiding agents, reviewing their work, and making strategy decisions. For the last two weeks I've been working on a Computer Use skill to work with Linux. And while I had some success, it was a pretty frustrating experience. That is...until the breakthrough. Using accessibility tools, Codex can now control my entire computer, not just the browser. There are limits to this, of course, but what a time to be alive. I've been spending more time with Bezi to see how far I can push vibe coding a game on the Unity Editor. So far, I'm pretty happy with what I can achieve with Bezi. Here are some learnings: - Even though I use Bezi to do all agentic coding, I still have to perform a few small manual tasks in the Unity Editor - As a result, I feel like I am getting a hang of Unity's complex and clunky UI, which actually feels good! - This is one of those examples where Vibe Coding is a great way to learn game dev. - For big features, I can't state the importance of asking the agent to create a plan first before implementing the feature. It can work wonders. Most of the bigger features/ssytems starts with a clear plan. - The biggest strength about working with Unity Engine is the Unity Asset Store, there's so much good stuff in there, 3D assets, shaders, vfx etc that can really spice up your game, that other game enginers will need to build from scratch. - Because Unity Assets Stores sell UI assets packs, I was able to implement decent looking UI fairly quickly. For those of you that vibe code games, you know how much of a pain it is to implement UI. - I did meet a few hiccups along the way where Bezi seems to struggle a little with implementing some features, but usually with some retries it works out at the end, though it burns a ton of tokens. After spending more time with Bezi, I'm still feeling good about using it. I am able to get this PvZ style autobattler working in a few days!

WHAT?!? 🤯 I asked Claude to build me an all in one AI Operating System for working with Claude Code. An hour later here we are... → Full ability to chat with Claude Code → Markdown file browser/editor built right in I've been using VS Code but there is a lot that I just don't need. I'm a knowledge worker, not a developer. So I guess I just built an IDE for knowledge workers? Now we're building: → Voice Mode (ability to switch to voice conversations) → Cron Job Management - so I can manage all the automated processes we have running → Ability to switch to different agents (currently I just have one... my AI Cos, Chad)

Just gave a demo at Every 🪨's Vibe Code Camp showing how I use a kanban board to stay sane while overseeing Claude Code agents😎 Here's a quick recap video showing the whole flow: 1) Monitor progress on all tasks in one view 2) See when Claude is blocked, and respond in context 3) Read Claude's plans with nice formatting, not raw Markdown 4) Use AI to process voice notes into structured tasks 5) Get explanations of code changes... with an interactive quiz to check if you understood 🙃 I've had mixed feelings about kanban workflows in the past, but as the agents get stronger I'm warming up to them—especially for churning through small well-specified tasks. In that context, it feels like the challenge is managing my working memory for what's going on. And having a stable "zoomed-out map" of all the tasks really helps me with offloading some of that cognitive load to a visualization of everything that's going on!
