V14.2.1 highway regression vs 14.1. In standard mode, FSD makes a maneuver into the left lane to pass a semi truck. Because they have jailed the speed limits of non mad max profiles, FSD cannot use acceleration to make this pass. So it ends up camping the left lane. In my right side view mirror, you can see someone coming up on my ass, and FSD is not getting back over. It’s also not speeding up to pass the semi because it is in speed jail. I had to scroll mad max to get through the maneuver. Def a regression from 14.1.

FSD 14.3.5 is now 0/2 on taking my exit for work. I took a video this time. The navigation shows that it should take the exit, and it will move over one or two lanes, but then it doesn't even attempt to put the blinker on and get into the exit lane.

Tesla FSD on Mad Max mode navigating through Highway 401, which is the busiest highway in the world. A simple 80 mile drive took over 2 hours. FSD literally changes your life. I never touched the steering wheel or pedals. All you have to do is sit back and relax.

This guy is using the left hand lane , which is open. There is a mile long backup and everyone is over in the right hand lane. He drives all the way up until he has to merge. Some people are saying what a jerk he is for not getting in line like everyone else, but a great many people are saying that the cars in the right lane merged into one lane too soon and that if they had used the left lane, instead of being a mile backup it would have been a half a mile backup. What’s your take? Do you think he was correct in using the left lane and merging up at the front or should he have merged right and got in line way in the back like everyone else?

Mad max on the highway. This is the only stressful thing when using FSD anymore for me. “Will it get over in time”. All the profiles wait too long to get over on v13 on my Cybertruck. Mad Max waited till the last second as you can see. Will do more testing on standard and hurry tonight when we take her out on a date very far away in the city

🚨 One thing that has frustrated me with Tesla Full Self-Driving is that I find it will sometimes change lanes to overtake a car, but the lane it changes into either ends or goes against the navigation (for example, it will change into a straight lane when it needs to be in a turn lane) Inevitably, it has to get back over before the lane ends or to get into the correct lane, and it ends up in the same place it was initially. A good example:

Sentience FSD says “hold my beer” and shoots a 6-inch gap between a pickup and the guardrail to escape a blocked exit lane 😱 At 27 minutes in we’re trying to get over three lanes for the upcoming exit. Traffic slams the door shut, so instead of waiting like a peasant, Mad Max just invents a new lane on the right, threads the needle between a full-size pickup and concrete barrier at 65 mph, and pops out ahead of everyone who closed us out. Zero hesitation, perfect centering, no scrape. On 14.1.7 this would have sat there crying. 14.2 just sent it. Is this the most aggressive exit move FSD has ever pulled, or have you seen worse? All-Sight caught every pixel of that insanity.

Tesla’s FSD has become really good at day-to-day driving, and it’s now performing like a human in very complex scenarios. Here’s video from last Friday, during afternoon rush hour. There’s a broken down pickup truck in the middle of the three open lanes in the Ville-Marie tunnel. Lights indicate that lane is closed. My car is in the leftmost lane, which suddenly also comes to a standstill, after police show up and an officer exits his vehicle and stops traffic. When it appears that the left lane will not start moving again, FSD moves my car two lanes over the right. 🤯 It then curves around a pothole in that lane, following how the car ahead handled it. 🤯 Honestly if it wasn’t for how bad Montreal roads are with potholes, I would hardly be driving myself at all.

FSD on Mad Max profile, version 14.2.1.25. Coming up to what looks like an interchange exit, but map data is wrong, all three lanes actually continue straight. Car starts weaving and panicking hard to shift right out of the "ending" overtake lane. Hesitation on the left change first, then sudden urgency to bail right. Had to disengage quick and give Tesla feedback on the bad map info, otherwise it would've forced an unnecessary move. Impressive it reacts strong to what it thinks is lane end, but scary when maps are off, could cause weird swerves. No real manual input beyond disengage, but kept it chill after. Mad Max living up to aggressive reputation here 😂 Who else hitting map glitches lately? This was filmed smooth with my All-Sight app.

As requested, here is the footage. FSD 14.1.4 was taking a right out of a parking lot. There was a mail truck in the closest lane and FSD attempted to take a really wide turn around the truck and go into the far lane, but there was a minivan clearly coming in that lane. I wasn't sure which lane it was trying to get in. When it started going in front of the minivan I took over. The minivan was paying attention and braked, honked their horn, and went around me as I pulled out of their lane. I found it weird because 14 is usually way too cautious at intersections.

Wow, Mad Max on the Cybertruck is such a great FSD profile. On the highway, it maintains a quick speed above 80 mph and effortlessly moves around traffic. One of my biggest complaints about FSD has been the speed the truck drives on the highway. It loved to keep me at 74 mph and sit in the left lane - causing fast drivers to pass me on the right. Can’t wait to keep using this for long commutes 🙌🏼

Trying FSD V14.1.2 in a parking garage for the first time (Mad Max mode on). I initially wondered why it drove all the way to the top level, but there was an access point into the main building from there, so it actually successfully navigated and chose the best level to be on.

This traffic circle has been a long-standing pain point for me on FSD. As you can see, the car consistently drives in the bike lane here. I’ve documented this behavior before on FSD 12, 13, and now 14. The issue appears to stem from outdated map data. This section of the circle used to function as a two-way roadway. At the time, there was no bike lane and vehicles traveled in the space FSD still prefers today. Since the redesign, that area is now a dedicated bike lane, but FSD doesn’t reliably recognize the change. Depending on the version, it will occasionally handle this correctly, but most of the time it does not. This is currently the only issue I consistently experience with FSD. It’s not safety critical. The car will move if a cyclist, vehicle, or object is present, but reliance on outdated map data in locations like this needs to improve.

The reason why Rockstar games are so good is because Rockstar iterates over and over with no end in sight. The downside of this is that devs end up working late for what feels like forever because there is no cut off point. I am guessing everybody working on GTA 6 will be iterating on the game right up until the day it drops.
