Automobile manufacturers claim their vehicles have no issues with E20. But test conditions and practical usage are different. Contamination can occur at any stage in the distribution network/ storage, if that is not E20 compliant. Govt obviously knows this.

Hold on - contrast this with the MoPNG press conference where Rahul Bharti boldly claimed that even if a car's manual says E10, it can run on E20 with absolutely "zero issues"! The Centre has informed the Rajya Sabha that studies show E20 fuel does not significantly affect the performance or durability of legacy vehicles. The govt says no issues have been reported in parameters such as drivability, startability, metal compatibility, and plastic compatibility. Yes, three institutions produced reports on the long-term effects of E20, suggesting that older vehicles might experience problems, particularly on rubber parts. No E20 related damage was found. If E20 genuinely damaged rubber hoses, fuel lines or engines, this would have shown up as a wave of warranty claims and complaints. That wave never happened. Since this is a very serious matter of national importance, I hope गृहमंत्री कार्यालय, HMO India looks after whether all this is part of toolkit or just to get publicity? Anyway, someone spreading such fake stories does a lot of harm to our Ethanol blending plans that affects our energy security

#WATCH | Delhi | AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal says, "Today, I have written to 29 auto manufacturing companies. I sent separate letters to three companies—Maruti, Toyota, and Hero- which had stated in a government press conference that E-20 fuel will not cause any problem in older vehicles. I pointed out to these three companies specify in their owner's manuals that older vehicles should not use fuel with an ethanol content higher than E-10. So, I have asked them two questions: If the use of E-20 results in a mileage drop of more than five per cent or causes damage to any component, will compensation be provided? They should inform the public whether E20 can be used in automobiles made by them before 2023. If yes, then in case of mileage issues or damage to any component, will the company compensate for the loss?"
