Rivian has been working since 2022 to re-architect its self-driving system around an end-to-end trained model. The ultimate capability of the vehicle will be level four self-driving - being able to operate autonomously without anyone in the driver's seat, says CEO RJ Scaringe.

🚨CHARGED🚨 A Texas man has been charged with MANSLAUGHTER after blaming Tesla's full Self-Driving system for a fatal crash that killed a grandmother. Police discovered from the car’s black box that Michael David Butler overrode Tesla's full Self-Driving system by pressing the accelerator to its maximum position prior to the crash. Butler had the vehicle allegedly driving at 73 MPH in a residential neighborhood. He apparently pressed the accelerator multiple times during his ride. Butler at the time was working as a DoorDash driver.

Of course, the latest generation is end-to-end full self-driving, meaning it’s just one large model that is end-to-end trained. Elon’s AV system is, in every way, 100% state-of-the-art. And so I’m really quite impressed by the technology. I have it and I drive it in our house and it works incredibly well.”

I tested Xpeng's VLA 2.0 in the streets of Beijing, and it is comparable to my experience of daily driving Tesla FSD v14. Xpeng is not charging $100 a month to drive this. It is inlcuded in its higher-trim vehicles and it already caught the attention of Volkswagen, which is going to integrate into its own vehicles - something Tesla hasn't been able to do despite trying.
