Bengaluru North City Corporation, Ward No. 14, Dasarahalli Division, has successfully carried out the transformation and beautification of a black spot under the guidance of Commissioner Shri Pommala Sunil Kumar and Joint Commissioner Smt. Pallavi. By one week, PKs along with drivers and helpers cleared 130 tonnes of debris and 20 tonnes of garbage. A differently-abled man is forced to ride his tricycle on the very edge of the footpath because it has been completely encroached upon by local vendors. While trying to squeeze through the narrow space, he loses balance and falls. This is the reality in India. Even footpaths are not safe or accessible for the people who actually need them the most. Encroachment everywhere, zero enforcement, and complete neglect of basic civic responsibility. A country that cannot even keep its footpaths clear for a differently-abled person should seriously question its claims of development. Sometimes it feels like nothing will ever change in this third-world chaos.

Dear Krishna Byre Gowda Sir, You would have seen the kind of positive response your 'free footpath' campaign has received. It has brought a new hope among Bangaloreans. Let this not be just a one day drive but a sustainable effort to keep our footpaths strictly for pedestrians. I would also urge you to explore pedestrian friendly streets wherever you are building new roads in the city. We have already done this with St Marks Road. We need many more. Also, every constituency must have a dedicated walkable street on the lines of Church Street. This will mean real quality change on the ground beyond headlines. Let this not be just a one day drive but a sustainable effort to keep our footpaths strictly for pedestrians. I would also urge you to explore pedestrian friendly streets wherever you are building new roads in the city. We have already done this with St Marks Road. We need many more. Also, every constituency must have a dedicated walkable street on the lines of Church Street. This will mean real quality change on the ground beyond headlines. Sophia has wanted to make this video as she is fed up waiting for Dublin City Council to fix the footpath and access out side the shops in Marino. This is the safe route she takes home from school but for 5 weeks now she has had to rely on others to help her get back up on the footpath. This disables her and she has to wait to ask for help. Not good enough! We need to see this fixed ASAP and we need DCC to be more proactive in seeing to it footpaths are always accessible especially for our Mobility impaired community. In the past 12 hours, Calgary has experienced 2 pedestrian fatalities in separate collisions. We are now on par with the 10-year high of fatal collisions in Calgary. So far in 2025, Calgary has seen over 300 collisions involving pedestrians, including 10 fatalities. October is Pedestrian Safety Month in Alberta’s Traffic Safety Calendar & we are urging Calgarians to exercise extra caution. Please stay alert, distraction-free & slow down.
