I strongly recommend listening to the full 1hr talk in the quote tweet. He goes a bit into vax-related harm reduction, notes variability across studies, and suggests a gist the harm is reduced by 40%. However, he is very clear that long covid is not a monolithic syndrome, much is unknown, and much changes over time.

A daily multivitamin can reduce brain aging and modestly slow down epigenetic aging clocks. In the COSMOS trial, older adults who took a standard Centrum Silver multivitamin daily for about 4 years performed better on cognitive tests and showed the equivalent of ~2 years less brain aging compared with those taking a placebo. The multivitamin also slowed epigenetic aging clocks, with an effect equivalent to about 2.7 to 5 months of slowed biological aging. That may sound modest, but I don’t think it’s trivial, and Prof Steve Horvath says that effects from safe, low-cost interventions can matter if they’re sustained over years to decades—2 months of slower biological aging could translate to 2.5 years if a good habit is maintained. These data push back on the idea that multivitamins are “completely useless.” If you’re filling nutritional gaps consistently over time, even a small benefit to cognition and biological aging could become meaningful. And this month, published in Nature Biotechnology, we asked a new question: is Rentosertib slowing aging itself? We applied six independently developed proteomic aging clocks to Phase 2A trial data. Six clocks from multiple independent groups, sharing neither features nor training data. All six agreed. Treated patients saw predicted biological age go down by up to six years. Placebo did not. This study is early and we say so plainly. But the template is clear. Find a target in aging biology. Purpose it toward a disease. Demonstrate it works. Then measure aging. I love this take. Elon Musk looks at aging like an engineer, not like a mystic. Exactly the same mindset as Aubrey de Grey. Core ideas that really hit: •Aging is not chaos. The whole body degrades in sync, so there must be a central mechanism. •If everything decays together, there is a biological clock or program behind it. •Programs can be rewritten. Aging is not destiny, it is code. •Other species already solved it. Whales reach 200 years, Greenland sharks up to 500. •That means it is not magic. It is biology and engineering. What I truly hope: •That Elon uses his capital, influence, and engineering culture to seriously push aging research. •If not full lifespan extension, then at least curing age related diseases. •Cancer, neurodegeneration, cardiovascular decay should be optional, not inevitable. If aging is engineered, it can be reverse engineered. That idea alone changes everything.
