Drivable 3D Gaussian Avatars paper page: present Drivable 3D Gaussian Avatars (D3GA), the first 3D controllable model for human bodies rendered with Gaussian splats. Current photorealistic drivable avatars require either accurate 3D registrations during training, dense input images during testing, or both. The ones based on neural radiance fields also tend to be prohibitively slow for telepresence applications. This work uses the recently presented 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) technique to render realistic humans at real-time framerates, using dense calibrated multi-view videos as input. To deform those primitives, we depart from the commonly used point deformation method of linear blend skinning (LBS) and use a classic volumetric deformation method: cage deformations. Given their smaller size, we drive these deformations with joint angles and keypoints, which are more suitable for communication applications. Our experiments on nine subjects with varied body shapes, clothes, and motions obtain higher-quality results than state-of-the-art methods when using the same training and test data.

I FINALLY managed to create a point cloud animation 💪 Here is how I did it using #GaussianSplatting, #Blender and 2 add-ons from KIRI Engine - 3D Scanner App . Creating point cloud animations has always been a dream of mine (inspired by masters like ), but the tech to create the point clouds and visual effects was always a huge barrier. Then I discovered these 2 Blender add-ons from Kiri engine after I had a chat with Jack Wang in my podcast, and it changed everything: 1- Create a splat with any tool or app you want 2- Install the free "Point Animate" add-on in Blender 3- Drag the 2 .ply you want to morph from --> to 4- Set source and destination in the add-on side panel At this point you could play around with various settings like noise scatter, noise intensity, wind and more. If you want to combine with the splat as well you can get also the 3DGS render to add cool dissolving effects, fancy lighting and really get the most out of your scans. If you end up using it please tag me. I am curious to see what much more skilled people than me can put together 😉

Insane what you can create with three.js nowadays. I made a game-quality 3D experience in the browser with water ripples, smoke effects, a 3D paper menu, underwater UI, and a peeling footer. The whole thing is pure code and only 183 KB. Seriously, no loading screen needed. 3D scanning and rendering is moving so fast - got my splats up and running and I'm mind blown getting ~100fps for this complex 3D scene ⬇️ 🤯 1. WAY faster than NeRF: For comparison, NeRFs would takes around 10 seconds per frame (!) Instead I'm zipping around with FPV controls without breaking a sweat - though I do crash a few times towards the end of the video lol 2. Old Meets New: Gaussian Splatting is cool in that it fuses classical graphics and deep learning techniques. Like NeRFs, this is still a radiance field - just without the slower (ne)ural rendering part. 3. Explicit Representation: Instead you represent a 3D scene as a collection of ellipsoidal "splats" called gaussians. Each gaussian has a position, size, and color. Rendering in real-time is done by projecting into the image plane and alpha blending. 4. Photorealistic Effects: Gaussian splatting use spherical harmonics to represent the view-dependent effects and lighting - allowing surfaces to change color when viewed from different angles, enabling greater photorealism. It doesn't use a neural network, but the training loop is similar to deep learning. 5. Enables Direct Editing: But it's not just speed - with Gaussian Splatting you also get 3D editing support! So you can select, move, and delete stuff, even relight stuff. This type of editing has been more tedious to do with NeRFs and their implicit black box representations. 📲 More tests cooking! Old Art to full 3D using Cinema 4D . Created a free and open-source plugin to bring Hunyuan 3D directly into Cinema 4D. This workflow combines multiple tools that are available today into a single, cohesive pipeline. I wanted to show that AI is never an end product by itself, it’s not the finality. Used properly, AI becomes an extremely powerful tool that lets you build exactly what you want. I hope you like it. The final step will be to bake all textures so I can share the project as a WebGL experience, a small interactive website to explore it directly in the browser. Made with heart, and with fal ❤️
