In the heat and while exhausted, people wait in queues for hours for food. Sadly due to the ongoing famine, people push through to get a serving in fear of the food running out. We send extra team members to try and control the crowds and make sure no injuries happen and thank God so far, we have had no injuries. Starting from today rice meals are $9 so we are doubling up on all numbers with aid trucks coming in and more goods available, donate: So far the trucks mainly had sugar, flour and rice, we pray that meat and a variety of vegetables and fruit comes in. On August 1st prices were still at $17.50 per plate and we distributed 225 meals (800g per meal) at Al Katiba Camp, Konia, in Al Rimal. The total cost was $3,938 with 10% commission. We continue our food initiatives in the North of Gaza where more than three quarters of Gaza’s population resides. With bakeries closed and aid distribution sites continuing to lure people to their deaths, communities rely on “takiyyas” to line up and receive a meal in a pot they bring with them. We supplied 4 pots of eggplant and a tomato broth at al-Fakhoura Camp, Al-Daraj neighborhood in Gaza City. Each pot contains around 43 servings and each serving is enough for about 3 people, providing 1000 calories for each meal serving. We have been providing pots to various takiyyas around Gaza City daily. These pots were 1600 shekels each or nearly $460 each before labor and 3% commission for bank transfer fees. Again, we are running low on funds to continue at this pace, but the situation on the ground remains the same which will lead to many more hungry families without some of our assistance. Many wonder where the eggplants come from. Prior to the genocide, Gaza had a lot of farmland especially in areas like Beit Lahia and Deir El Balah. Donate: . Unfortunately, most of the farms in the North are either completely bombed or not reachable. The majority of produce right now comes from the farms in the middle area. However, to feed two million people with limited access to food, the vegetable prices are extremely high making a kilo average at around $14 cash, so with 35% commission that’s around $19 per kilo. But we won’t stop. We distributed 7 eggplants pots with tomato paste, oil, spices, chickpeas and flour go the Salaheddine and Assad Alsaftawi schools in Al Darraj neighborhood in Gaza city. The quantity was distributed to approximately 300 families. Each meal weighed around 1.8 kg, providing approximately 1,000 calories. Each pot cost $501 (including 3% commission) so total for 7 pots was $3,507. The Sameer Project x Translating Falasteen team dedicated this distribution for the soul of the martyr Mosab Emad Ali. Pasta…but with a Palestinian twist, meaning cumin and other familiar, comforting spices!! Individuals in Gaza are living off of only about one meal per day. And this one meal is the same thing over and over - usually watered down lentils. So when our team brought macaroni pasta with carrots and peas and a spiced tomato sauce, everyone was relieved to have some variety. Translating Falasteen (Translating Falasteen (Palestine)) x The Sameer Project provided 8 Pots of pasta at Al-Jawazat Camp in Gaza City on June 23. Each pot cost 1,900 shekels or $577 after 3% bank transfer fees to pay the amount. This is not even including transportation and wages, which we pay in cash at a 38% cash withdrawal fee. Pasta and a tomato sauce for nearly $600 per pot!! Aid needs to enter Gaza, prices need to come down, food cannot not be weaponized for forced starvation and political objectives. Hospital support across the strip is a priority to the Sameer Project, support here: As we all saw today Nasser hospital was bombed targeting medical staff, patients, journalists and civil defense workers. The military occupation continues to break international law with no impunity. Hospital support across the strip is a priority to the Sameer Project, support here: As we all saw today Nasser hospital was bombed targeting medical staff, patients, journalists and civil defense workers. The military occupation continues to break international law with no impunity. On August 9th, the Translating Falasteen (Translating Falasteen (Palestine)) x Sameer Project team distributed 450 meals of pastries to the patients and staff in Al Helou hospital in Gaza City. Each meal included 6 pieces with the following stuffing: cheese, salsa, potatoes, chocolate, thyme and daqqa (Palestinian spices). We are currently averaging at 10 pots a day in the South, reduced from 30 pots a day due to lack of funds, donate here: The prices remain high and the stocks remain low. Here, we distributed 8 pots of zucchini stew in Basma camp in Nuseirat and 2 pots in Refaat Alareer camp in zawayde. Each pot cost $543 including 3% commission so the total cost was $5,430. The vegetable stews are pricier than the rice and burgul pots but we are trying to provide a variety for people both to enjoy but also to get different vitamins and minerals. Sadly people have carbs, rarely vegetables and plant protein and no animal protein whatsoever. More than 7.5 million liters of fresh, clean, drinkable water has been provided in the North alone by Translating Falasteen (Translating Falasteen (Palestine)) x The Sameer Project, thanks to your contributions, since June. Look at these lines stretching through the overcrowded Port Camp, mostly children trying to bring home a meal for their families. We got the good news that some trucks belonging to the World Kitchen entered through the Zikim crossing, making it safely to warehouses in preparation for distributions. But with 2 million hungry people in Gaza, this is not enough. Our teams continue to provide big batch pots to help feed those in dire need, suffering from this manmade famine. Translating Falasteen (Translating Falasteen (Palestine)) x The Sameer Project provided an incredible 20 pots of zucchini and rice in Al-Mina (Port) Camp, west of Gaza City on June 16. Each pot of nutritious stew cost 2,100 shekels or more than $600. This is one of the more filling meals we have provided and the community kitchen cost a total of 43,110 shekels including wages, and then $12,713 after the 3% bank transfer fee for payment. Food costs are so high and we need your continuous help to have an impact to stave off the starvation so many are facing. Support the North campaign.
