Between innings throw by Miami Marlins catcher Agustin Ramirez.... Notice pre-catch shift. Getting process started before ball even hits mitt is a great way to decrease your release & overall pop time. Do you work on technique between innings or just take it easy and flip it down there?show more

Dear Catcher, This is Mr. Coach. How dare you... do a deflection with your mitt on the 100mph FB spiked at 56’ feet. You need to first get off your knee, slide your body over with two knees down, tuck your chin, and get your barehand behind the ball! - Reality: Nice athletic game-saving stop. Do what you gotta do! Catch first, Stop it second. Hands move faster than the body! I’ve never met a pitcher that tried to intentionally throw a fastball in the dirt.show more

This is the reason that coaches and parents go... bonkers sometimes. This play at home left people baffled. The runner is rounding third and headed for home. The throw to the catcher gets there way ahead of time of the runner. The catcher catches the ball, waits for the runner and applies the tag. Easy out right? 💯 The umpire calls obstruction on the catcher and said he was obstructing the runner from scoring. The runner is safe! 🤯 That may be one of the worst calls I’ve ever seen on any level. The ball arrived so early that the catcher could have sat on home plate and had lunch waiting for that runner. If you have the ball you can be right there waiting to tag the runner when he comes in. What do you think? Obstruction or not? Was the catcher not giving the runner a fair path to home plate or was the umpire watching a game on another planet?show more

Med Ball Spikeball Variation Some rules: • Everyone has... to touch the ball 1 time before returning it to the box • If a team fails to have everyone on their team touch it or fail to return it to the box then it’s the opposite teams point. • The ball must hit the box and go up. If it hits the side/corner of the box and immediately goes down it is the other teams point. You can all adjust and make up your own rules! Can be played 2v2, 3v3, or even 4v4. (3v3 seems to be the best) We played as a warm up before our lift. But it can be a workout if it’s own! Anyone played this? What’s some rules or tips you have? #strengthandconditioning #sportsperformance #medballthrows #spikeballshow more

At some point when reviewing plays, the league should... consider adding a speed threshold for anything involving the element of time. When you slow plays down to 1/100th the speed, it distorts what actually happened and makes it look like, in this case, Cooks possessed the ball for seconds prior to losing it. The game is not played in slow motion or frame by frame. For a catch: A) Secure control of the ball ✅ B) Two feet down in bounds ✅ C) After (a) and (b) have been fulfilled, clearly performs any act common to the game (e.g., extend the ball forward, take an additional step, tuck the ball away and turn upfield, or avoid or ward off an opponent), or he maintains control of the ball long enough to do so. C is where there is a judgement needed since A and B are clearly met. Now consider this note to the rule: If a player, who satisfied (a) and (b), but has not satisfied (c), contacts the ground and loses control of the ball, it is an incomplete pass if the ball hits the ground before he regains control, or if he regains control out of bounds. Because Cooks did lose control of the ball when he contacted the ground and the ball never contacted the ground, it was ruled an interception by Denver.show more

You didn't notice this play, did you? Not a... single request. Makes sense, he didn't even need to dive. 35% catch probability. Isaac Collins is #1 in the league in jumps, leading PCA and Rafaela by nearly two feet. His jump on this ball was +11.7 feet above average, just astounding. Collins had to cover 115 feet. He makes it look incredibly easy, all due to that jump.show more

This is the kind of play that eye testers... have a hard time with, but also shows why catch probability is so useful. This ball had just a 55% catch probability, and is just made to look so easy by Ceddanne Rafaela. It's all about what you don't see on the screen, because it happens before the camera is on the play. The jump is 9.0 feet above average. He was positioned well into right-center. Lesser outfielders win catch on the week on this one with a full extension dive.show more

A lot of Russian boxer types who do the... bouncing thing use adjusted punching form that fits it They'll use split steps to punch on the move, and it's quick, unweighted straights or vertical fist uppercuts Fiziev will take a big bounce and load his weight for a huge lead hook and by then the other guy sees it and just gets out If you want to do the bouncy thing inside exchanges, you want to ideally stay between your hips more than the exaggerated Canelo-style hip folds, and get underneath punches by dropping down or bending your knees rather than deep hip folds. Ethyn Ewing does this well.show more

Pete Alonso was sitting at his locker in the... Orioles' clubhouse during media availability postgame, ready to address getting picked off to end the 8th inning and noting that he felt "awful." "I over-anticipated contact in the zone. For me, I kind of had a pretty big primary lead with 2 outs. There's multiple things I wanted to do. "I wanted to be able to get to 2nd if there was a ball hit to the infield, beat the throw, and then also, too, if there's a ball hit in the outfield -- either in the gap or down the line -- I would give myself the best chance to score. "So it was kind of my momentum, I was anticipating contact, but they did a -- I mean, it was a hell of a throw. It was a hell of a throw, great tag. Great play by them to take advantage of the situation. "But yeah, I definitely overcommitted too much on getting my momentum going to try and get to 2nd if there was a ball in the infield or score if there was a ball in the gap. "So yeah, it's really tough to kind of take ourselves out of the inning like that from just playing too far over my skis, so to speak. I feel awful."show more

It takes GRIT and sacrifice to play Div 1... Soccer. Self reflect and ask yourself these questions: 1. Will you get up for early AM lifts and not just drag yourself there but arrive happy and energized, eager to work and motivate your teammates? 2. Are you ready to miss family events—weddings, birthdays and be separated from your parents for longer than you ever have before? 3. Can you manage every aspect of your life for the first time by yourself, before you even throw in the rigors and demands of a sport? 4. Can you survive in an environment where you are defined by your sport and have very little social life existence outside of athletic and academic obligations? 5. Can you handle the mental challenge of going from the super star to possibly bottom of the roster, sitting on the bench, and/or not traveling with the team? 6. Will you be genuinely happy for your roommate who is getting all the playing time and attention while you’re getting none? If all answers are a resounding YES than you are built for this, but it’s not for everyone. And actually not for most. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it. Marcus Freeman said, "You can't talk your way into... winning a National Championship. You can't talk your way into being a Hall of Famer...You got to work and you got to constantly focus on improvement." You have to show up and do the work. Your work ethic is something that you can control. • It means competing. • It means committing. • It means showing up consistently. People see success, but they don't see the hard work and preparation it takes. 5 Steps to Improve Your Work Ethic and Focus: 1. Be Intentional About How Your Work - Show up every day with a clear purpose on what you will prepare and why. Think about the quality of your practice, the details, and reflect on where to focus most. This approach ensures your working towards improvement and growth. 2. Show up Committed Every Day - Don't just participate, show up, and commit. It means compete and choose to go above-and-beyond every day. Have a positive attitude and dedicate yourself to what you are doing. When you're focused, present, and engaged that is when growth starts to happen. 3. Be Consistent - You have to be consistent with your habits and work ethic. It means committing to the process of improving and putting in the time. Success doesn't happen overnight, it's the result of consistently showing up and doing the work day in and day out. 4. Prepare Mentally and Physically - This means think about your physical and mental state when you are practicing and when you will perform. Understand what environment allows you to perform your best. Use mindfulness to think about the connection between your mind and body. 5. Create a Plan for When Obstacles Arise - Don’t just imagine the great outcome, visualize what may stop you from reaching it. Prepare for the obstacles. Write them down and plan how you’ll overcome them. This keeps you prepared and resilient when challenges come your way. Takeaway: Talent can you get you into many rooms, but it's your work ethic, focus, and attitude that keep you there. - - - The video comes from Marcus Freeman's interview with Pivot Podcast. Enjoy this journey while you can. There will be... a day when you don’t have anyone to throw with or lift with or play pickup racquetball and then hit the sauna after with. There will be a day when you can’t immediately roll from your workout into breakfast/lunch/dinner with 8 of your best friends. There will be a day when disputes cannot be settled with a game of madden, 2K or the show. You will realize that showing up late for work pales in comparison to the fear you had about showing up late to the field or the weight room. You can say that you’ll still train hard, keep yourself in shape, hold YOURSELF accountable. It’s easy to say when you have a goal you’re working towards with a collective group. But when you don’t have that, damn it gets hard. So enjoy it. Take advantage of the time and the energy. For some guys it happens after 6 years of pro ball. For others it happens after 4 years of college. But it will leave you. Let me repeat that: IT WILL LEAVE YOU AND IT SUCKS WHEN IT DOES.show more

3) I've got nothing else to say about the... dropback game. In certain situations, it is genuinely embarrassing. Who designed this one? Can anyone tell me the point of this on 3rd down? This is 3rd and 8. I don't get how this is ever supposed to work vs zone coverage (or man, tbh). It's SO easy to cover. Barkley's release into the flat is late so Hurts can't even check it down, either. There is nothing a QB can do on plays like this. Burn this play. I'm sick of seeing these 2x2 routes where there are no answers against zone coverage. It's madness.show more

The thing I help hitters with the most.. (1... good way to train it👇🏼) They start on time but never actually get loaded to GO. They think they’re ready. They’re not. So they start earlier next time. Same problem. —— This is a conversation I have with almost every hitter. When is the right time for you? - Based on your load style - Based on how long your load takes - Based on the pitcher’s velo, windup, or slide step —— If that’s you, try a “loaded at release” type load. Bobby Witt. Judge. Get your hip and elbow loaded early. Then stride with it ready to fire. “The pitcher is up there for 20 seconds telling you to get ready. Shame on you if you’re not ready to swing.” ____ If I have you in the cage, what I’ll do is have you get into a no stride position, get ready to swing and I stand there for 1-4 seconds… Holding my hand out over the plate ready to snap my fingers. When I snap, you swing. Do that 4-5x. You get the quickness, readiness feeling. Then we go back to stride with moving ball and you’re trying to time up that same GO move with the ball With your foot up in the air and the GO will make the foot go down. Not foot down then swing. That typically kills quickness. This works 95% of the time I’d say! —— > Send this to a hitter who needs it > Save it for when you need it.show more

Candace knew about the lawsuit before she went to... Rome. Yet she says she hadn’t had time to talk to her husband about it? So Candace Baby, they sent you the detailed information on why and that they were suing you the day you went to Rome but you are surprised by the suit when it dropped and haven’t had time to talk to Georgie about it? So no time on the plane or in Rome you and George discussed the lawsuit? Were you even together? If I received a detailed letter and notice a lawsuit was about to hit….it would be the main topic of conversation between my husband and I for days. Another lie of Candace, she always forgets what she says, and then has to spin it. One lie that gets another lie, which gets another lie going. She knew, George knew and their PR move now is to use George as the reason they will file up dismiss.show more

For the people training before work who keep asking... what to eat at 5:45am. I get the concern. You need something quick. Something easy on the gut. Something that does not sit heavy through the first set of squats. Something dense, energy-rich, slow-release. Clean burning. No insulin spike. No bloating. No faffing about with a blender at quarter to six in the morning. Ideally something already prepared. Already in the kitchen. No shopping list. No prep. No measuring. Available on demand, exactly when you need it, in whatever quantity the session calls for. I have got just the thing. It is the spare tyre around your midsection. You are carrying somewhere between 40,000 and 100,000 calories of premium fuel on your person right now. The body knows what to do with it. It has been waiting, frankly, for you to stop interrupting the process with porridge. Train fasted. Black coffee. Water. Breakfast is already on board.show more

IDK who needs to hear this, but use your... rifle's safety. Enough nonsense about leaving it off. It's easy to do and adds no time to anything. -------- This is a box drill, 4 cones about 5-7 meters apart, in a square. The focus is to shoot while entering and exiting positions. You shoot when next to each cone. If you are just getting started, you may have to stop completely to shoot. The idea is to never really stop moving, though and only slow enough to confidently get your hits. The more stable you are able to get while moving, the sooner and faster you can make your shots. Target distance can vary based on how difficult you want it to be, anywhere from 7-20 yards from the forward cones.show more
