With FSD v14.2.1.25, Hurry Mode is now perfect. Speed control is excellent, improved lane discipline (no left lane camping) and on the highway, there is no +10 cap anymore so it stays with the flow of traffic very well. So good.

V14.2.1 highway regression vs 14.1. In standard mode, FSD makes a maneuver into the left lane to pass a semi truck. Because they have jailed the speed limits of non mad max profiles, FSD cannot use acceleration to make this pass. So it ends up camping the left lane. In my right side view mirror, you can see someone coming up on my ass, and FSD is not getting back over. It’s also not speeding up to pass the semi because it is in speed jail. I had to scroll mad max to get through the maneuver. Def a regression from 14.1.

Tesla’s FSD has become really good at day-to-day driving, and it’s now performing like a human in very complex scenarios. Here’s video from last Friday, during afternoon rush hour. There’s a broken down pickup truck in the middle of the three open lanes in the Ville-Marie tunnel. Lights indicate that lane is closed. My car is in the leftmost lane, which suddenly also comes to a standstill, after police show up and an officer exits his vehicle and stops traffic. When it appears that the left lane will not start moving again, FSD moves my car two lanes over the right. 🤯 It then curves around a pothole in that lane, following how the car ahead handled it. 🤯 Honestly if it wasn’t for how bad Montreal roads are with potholes, I would hardly be driving myself at all.

This guy is using the left hand lane , which is open. There is a mile long backup and everyone is over in the right hand lane. He drives all the way up until he has to merge. Some people are saying what a jerk he is for not getting in line like everyone else, but a great many people are saying that the cars in the right lane merged into one lane too soon and that if they had used the left lane, instead of being a mile backup it would have been a half a mile backup. What’s your take? Do you think he was correct in using the left lane and merging up at the front or should he have merged right and got in line way in the back like everyone else?

Yesterday I drove to Cologne. Since FSD is still unavailable in Germany, I had to rely on Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) for the entire trip. Honestly, it was a disappointing experience. EAP makes frequent steering corrections, changes lanes poorly, and feels far less predictable and confidence-inspiring. On roads with unclear lane markings, it constantly wanders left and right, which doesn’t feel safe. After driving over 10,000 km with FSD, the difference is impossible to ignore. FSD drives much more naturally, stays smoother in its lane, and anticipates traffic far better. FSD needs to come to all of Europe as soon as possible. The difference in both comfort and safety is huge.

This video should be watched by all 145 crore people of this country. Zero lane discipline. Absolute chaos on roads. I stick to the middle lane, and people still try overtaking from the left like it’s normal. Buses & trucks hog the right lane. Bikes cruise in the middle. No rules, no logic, just survival. This isn’t traffic, it’s a daily gamble.

Don't you hate it when people block a designated FREE left lane? Instead of queuing up behind the existing line of vehicles they squeeze into the left lane which is free- just to get ahead by 10 meters, and block it for others taking a left turn. That is selfish driving. #RoadSafety

NEW: A driver running a red signal appeared to have caused a crash yesterday at the newly revamped intersection of Army Navy Drive & S. Hayes Street in Pentagon City. And they did it right in front of an Arlington County police officer. While I’m not making an excuse for the driver of the white car in Video 1 for not obeying a traffic signal, there’s an intersection design that may cause confusion for drivers not paying close attention (of course, that's so many drivers). The driver who ran the light really didn’t have a red signal over their lane. The signal over their lane was green. It’s a green arrow meant for the far-right lane, yet hangs mostly over the right thru lane. In Video 2, I visited the intersection last night to see the changes up close. In the view from my driver’s seat, you can see how that right turn signal lines up with my car. I was in the same lane as the driver in the video. The right turn lane is to my right. Also, the signal is immediately to the right of the dotted line that guides drivers through the intersection. It would be a good idea to shift that signal further to the right and also move the signal meant for that lane to the right. As for the right turn lane, it’s now right turn only on a green arrow. It’s set this way to protect the not-yet-opened new bike lane on Army Navy from Joyce to 12th. The bike lane has its own special little traffic signals. Another key change, which will likely help prevent the kind of crash we’ve seen most often at this intersection, is on the exit ramp from I-395N. The left turn from that ramp is now only legal with the green arrow. This should prevent many of the conflicts with drivers on northbound Hayes. It also legitimizes what drivers were already doing, creating two left-turn lanes. If they fix the traffic signal alignment, there’s a good chance this will finally be a much safer intersection. Now, they need to straighten out Washington Boulevard and S. Walter Reed Drive, Arlington County’s most dangerous merge. As requested, here is the footage. FSD 14.1.4 was taking a right out of a parking lot. There was a mail truck in the closest lane and FSD attempted to take a really wide turn around the truck and go into the far lane, but there was a minivan clearly coming in that lane. I wasn't sure which lane it was trying to get in. When it started going in front of the minivan I took over. The minivan was paying attention and braked, honked their horn, and went around me as I pulled out of their lane. I found it weird because 14 is usually way too cautious at intersections.

This woman is using a bike lane as a walking lane as well. There is a car behind her trying to beat the traffic and driving in that lane. They are driving slowly behind her yelling at her to get out of the way and antagonizing her. She starts to record them because they are being reckless and have come close to hitting her and other cars. The car even cuts off the other cars as the lane is being blocked by a pole. I understand she’s mad because the car was where they weren’t supposed to be, however the bike lane is a bi-directional bike lane, it isn’t a bike lane on one side and a walking lane on the other. So who is wrong here, are they both wrong for using the bike lane when neither one is on a bike?
