What would a World Model look like if we start from a real embodied agent acting in the real world? It has to have: 1) A real, physically grounded and complex action space—not just abstract control signals. 2) Diverse, real-life scenarios and activities. Or in short: It has to be annoyingly complex—in both the action and vision space—to even get close to real life. We did an initial attempt: Whole-Body Conditioned Egocentric Video Prediction. In collaboration with @dans_t123 , Amir Bar, Yann LeCun , trevordarrell and Jitendra MALIK. (For more details, check: What we did is very simple: Predict Egocentric Video from human Actions (PEVA) - Given the past video and a future action represented by relative 3D body pose, PEVA predicts how the world looks next—from the first-person view. By conditioning on kinematic pose trajectories, structured by the joint hierarchy of the body, it learns how physical actions shape perception.

Robots are getting smarter, but most still fail the same way. They don’t learn from their own mistakes. A new paper proposes something different: a way for robots to self-improve directly from their failures in the real world. It’s called PLD (Probe, Learn, Distill). The idea: instead of collecting endless human demos, let the robot figure out where it fails, learn how to recover, and then distill that knowledge back into its main model. However, for reinforcement learning you are usually stuck between two difficult options: reinforcement in the real world is often risky and expensive, while reinforcement learning in a traditional simulator takes a lot of engineering work and has a persistent sim-to-real gap. What if instead you could train your robot purely in a world model? RISE by Jiazhi Yang et al. uses a compositional world model to predict the future and evaluate progress. This allows for a self-improving pipeline, which learns a world model from real data and then learns how the robot should perform different tasks. This pipeline results in a data-driven way to improve policy performance from real data but without real-world reinforcement learning. We're sharing new research from the Runway Robotics team, in which we simulated 8 robot policies inside our General World Model and found 0.95 correlation with real-world results. Built entirely from real-world environments: commercial spaces, and homes. Collected using AGIBOT G2 robots in free-form collection mode, providing structured, accurately annotated, high-quality data. Digital twin technology creates 1:1 scale replicas in simulation matching the real environments. Both real-world and simulation data are open-sourced. The AGIBOT G2 platform collects multiple data types simultaneously: RGB(D) cameras, tactile sensors, force sensors, LiDAR, IMU, and full-body joint states. Whole-body control coordinates arms, waist, and hands for complex tasks. First-person teleoperation lets operators control the robot from its perspective. The tasks covered are fine-grained manipulation, ultra-long-horizon tasks, spatial navigation, dual-arm coordination, and multi-agent/human-robot collaboration. The dataset includes error-recovery trajectories with annotations. Most datasets only show successful demonstrations. AGIBOT includes failures and how the robot recovers, teaching models how to handle mistakes. After collection, data is tested through policy training and real-robot deployment to ensure quality. Then processed through industrial quality control with multiple screening and cleaning rounds. The problem is that “world model” has become an overloaded label. Depending on context, it can mean a video generator, a cost model, a robot policy, a JEPA-style latent predictor, etc. They share almost nothing, different inputs, runtimes, failure modes. I built WorldForge to stop pretending they're interchangeable. Front-door demo: a real Hugging Face LeRobot (LeRobot) diffusion_pusht policy combined with LeWorldModel by Lucas Maes checkpoint for scoring. Both run locally on my MacBook in the demo video. LeWM is extremely efficient (~15M params), can plan up to 48× faster, and runs on commodity hardware. Building upon SimpleVLA-RL, we have implemented real-world RL on long-horizon dexterous tasks and witnessed a non-trivial (~relatively 300%) performance improvement over the SFT model, along with surprising capabilities on auto-recovery. Blog coming soon. The entire process uses very little data and training compute—basically costing no more than a single robotic arm—hinting that real-world generality for machines is actually within sight.
