An incredibly rare situation as Imelda and Humberto *merge* in the Northwest Atlantic – two active hurricanes combining into one larger, more powerful hurricane! On Tuesday morning, Humberto and Imelda were separated by just 476.4 miles – second place to the record for closest Atlantic hurricanes. (Two hurricanes in 1853 made it to within 428 miles of one another). When hurricanes pass within 800 or 900 miles of each other, they interact in a rare dance called the "Fujiwhara." Basically, they dance around each other. Humberto was initially a much stronger hurricane. Over the weekend, it yanked Imelda eastward. That technically means that a hurricane helped spare the U.S. a strike from another hurricane! How ironic and bizarre is that!? But now Imelda is the stronger hurricane. It has winds of 90 mph, and Humberto's winds are at 80 mph. In the next couple days, Imelda will ingest Humberto's vorticity, or spin, and the two low pressure systems will fold into one larger, more powerful low over the northwest Atlantic. It will probably retain hurricane-strength winds, and it's likely the Hurricane Center will allow Imelda to keep its name! The Fujiwhara effect has happened before – iconic examples of the Fujiwhara dance were observed with Odette and Seroja in the Indian Ocean in 2021, or Hilary and Irwin in the eastern Pacific in 2017. The Fujiwhara effect happens with atmospheric vortices of all scales. For nontropical (midlatitude) cyclones to be influenced by each other’s presence and interact, they need to be within about 1,500 to 2,000 miles. Their interaction becomes more intense once they’re within about 1,200 miles. Hurricanes are smaller, so that threshold is smaller. But even tornadoes orbit one another in Fujiwhara-like interactions! When a storm spawns multiple tornadoes simultaneously, the twisters tend to swirl around each other in a counterclockwise fashion. In fact, that happens regularly with what’s called cyclical tornadogenesis, or the process by which rotating supercells produce successive tornadoes. A dying twister is tugged ahead of its successor, then swirled left (north) into the rain and hail where it’s stretched into oblivion. As its predecessor dissipates, the new, stout tornado matures and begins tracing its large counterclockwise path. These handoffs can happen every 15 or 20 minutes in powerhouse thunderstorms. The Fujiwhara effect can even manifest within individual tornadoes. Most tornadoes contain smaller whirlwinds called subvortices. They last a few seconds each, and whip around the parent funnel. Individual subvortices can locally enhance the parent tornado’s wind field, leading to narrow swaths of extreme destruction. That’s why one home might be obliterated while a neighboring structure escapes unscathed

This is arguably one of the most complex steering scenarios in recent memory!! Two hurricanes(?), a stalled cut-off upper low, and a deep Greenland cold pool diving south. How all these factors interact with each other is driving the models (and meteorologists lol) up the wall!! Will soon to be #Imelda be pulled into the Carolina coast by the cut-off low as many solutions show? Or will #Hurricane #Humberto drag Imelda gradually out to sea, as Humberto gets dragged north by the large Greenland jet stream trough? Only time will tell, but folks from FL’s northeast coast to the Carolina’s especially should stay weather aware. More obviously Imelda will impact the Bahamas this weekend-early next week and Bermuda needs to watch #Humberto. In all this, a #Fujiwhara pivot is possible! WFLA NEWS

A Russian Iskander targeted what Ukrainians claim is a humanitarian aid convoy in the Chernihiv region while the Russian MOD claimed they targeted a UAV launch position. It makes no sense for there to be a humanitarian aid convoy to be on a small dirt road in middle of a field in Chernihiv but it still could be one. It is not known if the people in photo are first responders or the people targeted. Will update if more information come out.

🇺🇸🇮🇷 Trump: They have suffered a military defeat, and now we will open the Strait with or without them, but it will be open. We are going to open the Strait, as they call it, and I think it will happen fairly quickly, and if not, we will be able to finish it one way or another. Everything is going well. No nuclear weapon, number one. I think it has already been regime change—we never had that as a criteria. No nuclear weapon—that is 99% of it. We have other countries coming up to help with the Strait of Hormuz. We will have that open fairly soon.

The steering forecast for #imelda is complex to say the least. A direct hit of a #hurricane in the Carolina’s remains a real possibilty early week. Thats because a weak upper level low stalls and attempts to capture (soon to be Imelda) as it moves out of the #Bahamas. The key here is speed and it’s what separates the different model solutions. The models that are faster with Imelda show a landfall. But the slower members are just slow enough to allow the influence of #Humberto, and by association, the deep trough/ jet stream over New England, to “tug” Imelda out to sea at the 11th hour. Lots of balls in the air and certainly some fascinating science. Florida appears to be shielded from Direct impacts, but the Bahamas will have a direct hit of a tropical storm or low-end hurricane. Be prepared!

No, your eyes are not deceiving you! Next week's cold blast is going to be “near” historic in #Florida for early November. The models are very aggressive and if they are right we may tie or break records set ~100 years ago. These are wind chills for Tuesday morning BUT it is not out of the question that North FL will see actual low temps near freezing next Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. Fire up the fireplaces! You don't have one? You have a week to get it :)

100 ft wave!?! It’s not out of the question for #erin But I see a lot of folks posting “maximum” wave heights - likely for clicks - but the right metric is significant wave heights because the 100 ft waves will be rogue not common. Now, Hurricane Dorian did cause a rogue wave off New Foundland measured at 100ft in 2019, likely the “reliable”record for largest wave, but there have been many “reports” of waves nearly that big or bigger. Erin’s significant wave height (pictured here) is forecast to be 60 ft. That means most waves will be in that range near the core. But typically there are rogue waves much larger, and indeed the models forecast maximum wave heights around 100 ft. Will it happen. Yes, probably when it gets north in its extratropical transition. Will we get a record of it? Not likely. Buoys are sparse along the track. #Hurricaneerin #hurricane

Doge, Pepe, and Shib all crashed 85-95% after their initial run ups. Troll is currently right around this mark. Many will wait for a dip to bid, thinking they have missed the “pump”. Nobody has seen a pump. Every single time $Troll gets going(has had 2 legs thus far), it runs harder than anyone believes it can simply due to the fact that it is a top 3 meme ever and subconsciously people realize it deserves to be in the billions. The third leg will be no different and it will make the first 2 look like chump pumps. It is one of if not the only meme left that has this kind of reflexivity and has been around for over a year. Buy as much $Troll as you can in the coming months. When risk on comes back fully, you will see Troll run like you have not seen a coin run in a long time. Universities and High Schools have not moved rapidly enough to guide students to have skills for the next decade. THEY HAVE FAILED. It is a massive crisis that can be averted by understanding what AI and Robotics will bring about. Solutions are knowing how to use these tools and new industries that will rise. But this situation is also on ALL OF US. No “job” is safe from founder to entry level in most industries. You and I, by what we do, will be “replaced” ultimately. What to do? AI and Robotics are tools, the next decade is owned by those who know how to use them expertly, but this is also temporary. We have to understand that what we do for “work” will change giving ultimately a greater value to those that are: Creative Flexible Always learning Willing to be wrong Love being human Love being alive Know history Covet wisdom Knowing all tech has downsides Building strong family and friends Realize many institutions have failed The first four are required for you to be able to live through this period with your sanity intact. The rest will allow you to thrive. There are no true careers at this point anymore. There are advocation and vocations which will either earn you money or give life meaning. We will learn that we are not “what we do”, just like we knew for 99% of human existence. Let that sink in. — You and I are far, far ahead of knowing this and we can do two things: 1) Laugh at the “clueless” 2) Help people understand with grace Go to Reddit if you are 1, in fact don’t follow me because you will not like this next decade and what I post. You are 2 and thank you. Even if you and I have not solved this issue, we can help people understand what is ahead and with determination and creativity bound together to solve it locally. Or human family has done this millions of times. The evidence is: you are here. The Neo Luddite movement has not even begun and it will potentially rip apart society even more than all the fashionable moment in the recent past has. These Luddites will have a good point with the wrong answers cooked up by dying academics that cling to labels, “virtues” and victim hood. It will be readymade for some governments to enter in as “big daddy” to “help us”. You will not like what they do, but you will only know when it is too late. It will include YOU “volunteering” to “leave” by 60, to “help out” CanadaPod style. “Brian, I’m 24 what do I do?”. I hope to do much more here to help. But I do know this: 1) Learn a trade or vocation because it’s valuable. It may also be free to low cost if you do it right. 2) Learn everything you can about USING AI and TRAINING YOUR AI. Your expertise will be in the top 1% for a decade. But not forever. 3) Understand Bitcoin and how it will rise while other things sink. This is a short list for now. We will know more moving forward. When you see videos like this posted below, know one thing: Many of these folks had no real family of mental and physical support. Maybe no parent or one parent. Maybe only a broke system to prepare them for—nothing. This was not their doing. Now it is not your “job” to help them, it is your survival to help them if that is what you need. See some day after the dust settles these 20 year olds will be 40 year olds and running YOUR world. And at some point you may need them more than you think you do. You will need them, as they need you now. THIS IS WHAT PAST WISDOM KNEW. The elders of the past never found the need to piss on the youth and hope for the best. Twenty sets was not enough, the four angles were not enough, the drop set at the end was not enough, and the answer is presumably a fifth angle and a whole additional evening. What your arms actually get in a normal week: - Heavy tension from every row, chin and pulldown - Heavy tension from every press, dip and close-grip - Twenty isolation sets piled on top of that - All of it at the end, when the weight has to be light - All of it at length, where damage is highest - A drop set, because they are stubborn - Four days of soreness - One training exposure, seven days later Biceps and triceps are the most damage-sensitive tissue in the building. Two small muscles with almost nothing there to absorb the work. Damage is not a growth signal. It is a repair bill, and repair spends the exact recovery you were hoping to build with. So no, they are not growing no matter how hard you train them. They are not growing because of how hard you train them. What they need instead: - One or two hard sets - Early in the session, while you can still load them properly - Twice a week - Add weight when you can Two of those sets are all the direct arm work I do. The bloke on his eleventh set of pushdowns has been at that machine since I walked in.

This is an interesting one: 2 rounds of antibiotics given to a patient for a chest infection. Patient still unwell. I wonder how much microbiology and pathology PAs have done in order to pick up what sort of chest infection this may have been in the first place (so to give the right antibiotics if needed) Wonder if this was a bacterial infection in the first place? Intrigued to understand what PA next steps would be? Had the patient seen the GP the second time? Interesting take on educating the public and interesting method by being pretty passive aggressive - unsure if this is the technique to be used. Glad that they are educating on antibiotic resistance though. I wonder how much this is happening causing increased activity, increased wait times and increased activity (unnecessarily)
