The person merging is at fault. You have to yield when entering the freeway.

My exact thoughts.

Traffic entering the highway must yield to traffic already present. This is cut and dried.

All because the person driving the car couldn't slow down for 5 seconds & let the truck get ahead. Then easily merge onto the hwy & then pass the truck.

Anyone saying the Truckers fault shouldn’t have a DL

We hand out way too many drivers licenses to people too stupid to ride a bicycle.

Merge lane..... It is incumbent on the merger to merge safely. This isn't hard

I drove cross country for 26 years and I can't tell you how many lives I saved by making a way for these idiots who are not paying attention to come onto the freeway. People looking down at their phones and their lane is ending. Fixing to be wedged between a concrete barrier and my 80,000 lbs truck. Then when I make a way they look up and there just happens to be a spot for them to pull into. Then they go about their day oblivious to just how close they came to death. But they never learn, they will do it again tomorrow.

The car is at fault. The vehicle merging onto the highway is responsible for getting up to speed and avoiding vehicles that are already on the highway. What a spectacularly stupid human being.

If your marging into traffic you either speed the fuck up or slow down. Don't fuck with truckers you piece of shit.

The person getting on the highway MUST yield to those already ON the highway.

I used to drive trucks. Evertime you see this it's a woman with a kid on board. Where is the survival instinct?

Cars fault but that truck definitely could've slowed down. Shouldn't have to, but come on

drove alongside that truck for a quarter of a mile and then thinks its the truck drivers fault when she runs out of lane.

The car was at fault. The tractor trailer was maintaining its lane as it should. The car should’ve reduced speed and fallen in behind the tractor trailer. The car driver instead illegally, used the shoulder to attempt to pass and merge in front of the tractor trailer.

This isn't just a woman thing, a lot of idiots don't know how to merge. Having said that, the truck driver either wasn't paying attention or stubbornly refused to slow down and let her in, deliberately and stupidly hitting her. He is just as much at fault.

Why do they always expect the flowing traffic to adjust to them?

Reading the comments of some people made me realize we need retesting for drivers license.

That is a blindspot for the trucker.

If someone doesn’t understand the rules of merging, then they should not have a drivers license. There should be more strict driver tests.

Blind spot and no where to go any way. Trucker couldn’t see her, She could’ve braked hard or hauled ass harder, she must’ve assumed the truck could’ve gotten over or brake, but he had a car beside him and a big truck behind him.
